vortec headers?

OK here's my deal i put vortec heads on the maro, the stock exhaust has to go its been leaking for the last week but, the passenger side stock manifold holes don't match up, i can pinch the rear bolt hole with my fingers, it hangs past the head, is this normal for these heads? anyone got any ideas should i buy some(what kind)

Re: vortec headers?

back hole isn't needed if you're talking about the 7th extra bolt hole. only need the 6 bolts. Definitely killing the whole point of vortec head swapping with stock manifolds, how about some nice tubular headers instead?

Re: vortec headers?

On the exhaust side there is no difference between the standard SBC head ports and the Vortec head ports.

Re: vortec headers?

Yes there is a difference. The standard SBC heads have an extra hole on the back passenger side #8 cylinder (the #1 cylinder on the driver's side head). Vortec heads are missing that extra hole, and our stock exhaust manifolds require it. Headers will work with Vortec heads, no problem there.

Re: vortec headers?

Get headers for a camaro. Sucks for you since you're in Cali, you'll have to get Headers with all the goofy emissions tubes and such, it'll cost you a pretty penny.

Look into Hooker 2055's, they should work with your stock catback, but Im not sure.

Re: vortec headers?

I guess when I said "headers will work with vortec heads, no problem there" I should have said ALL headers for thirdgens will work with Vortec heads.

And, the emissions tubes arent goofy, they are required by federal law to be on all street vehicles that came with them. That includes thirdgens.

The Hooker 2055's are a good choice.

Here's what I'm running with Vortecs: Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).
