X pipe

Just Wonderin. How big of a difference would an X-pipe make to a car over my stock Y-pipe?

Re: X pipe

It's an X shaped crossover pipe used in true-dual exhaust systems. Similar to an H pipe but considered to be better flowing due to the shape of the crossover. The factory thirdgens (and 4th gens) come with a y pipe that merges into a single intermediate pipe..

X pipe = 2 pipes in, 2 pipes out
Y pipe = 2 pipes in, 1 pipe out

You say you have dual exhaust, but I don't see where a Y pipe would work on a dual exhaust.

Re: X pipe

Well since we know he has Single Exhaust with dual outlet...I want to say, before he asks.

X-Pipe = HP
H-Pipe = TQ

Since you have single anyway you should look into Hooker 2460 Headers with Hookers Y-Pipe. This is larger headers and y-pipe then look into a cat-back unless you already have one.

you won't be getting long tube headers from pacesetter, as they don't make 'em for a 3rd gen, and their shorties aren't that good, especially for the money. Your only options for LT's are Hooker and Hedman. Either way, you're best bet is still to run a good y-pipe and a good cat-back system. True duals are a waste of time and $. You won't make any more power w/ good duals than w/ a good single, and fitting duals under our cars is a PITA.

do a search on headers and exhaust systems. This type of info has been coverd many times over.

Re: X pipe

The best true dual setup instructions:

Remove Exhaust System
Install Headers
Done!

Yeah, there's a reason our cars don't have a true dual exhaust. Sure, they could have, but it wouldn't have been easy...
