v6 exhaust, 350 engine work?

ok im in the middle of a engine swap from a v6 fi to a 350 carb, and im just wondering will the stock exhaust work with the new motor? its factory 2 1/2" i do believe, the 350 i do believe also has headers with 2 1/2" outlet, so they should bolt right up, but would there be any problems?

Step 1 of exhaust when swapping from V6 to V8: Remove all of the V6 exhaust.

Step 2: Install something that will work.

Re: v6 exhaust, 350 engine work?

well yeah the pipes would be small and the y pipe would be different and headers on a v6 obviously are not going to fit a v8

Re: v6 exhaust, 350 engine work?

it won't hurt anything, but your brand new 350 will run like the v6 you just pulled out with factory v6 exhaust.

at the very least, scour the classifieds for either HO or TPI manifolds/y pipe.

Factory V6 is 2". Some aftermarket cat-backs use 2.5", even for the V6 application.

But, no way the y-pipe would bolt up to both - unless that also is aftermarket or custom.

Sorry, I haven't seen your other posts. What's the 8th character of the VIN?
