Exhaust question
Im looking to change my exhaust. Im on a budget build due to money in 3 other camaros. But i just put a 350 in my girl, factory bore and stroke just new flat tops 5.7 rods and bearings.
Now to the question, i have long tubes but no pipes. I just got the car running. But now i have a parts car and i was told that the 83 Z28 had 2 3/4" y-pipe. I want full exhaust out the car out the rear. NOT dumps. but should i stick the y-pipe on the car with the shorties. or is this a myth. whats better and mre flow
thanks

In '83, only the L69 would have the larger pipe (well, maybe crossfire, not sure about that). '83 still had that silly dual muffler set-up, if memory serves. My '82 had that replaced with the more standard crossflow dual outlet, but that '82-'83 dual muffler thing was a joke.
Duals to the rear bumper a difficult to do - not impossible, just difficult. For a basically stock 350, headers and exhaust for the '86-'90 TPI single cat application is the easiest way to go. You could do Hedman dual cat headers, which have separate pipes to the cat location, and run dual 2-1/2" along the factory routing, but even that gets tight. Single 3" after the cat location is more than adequate in most situations.

Re: Exhaust question
thanks. i wanted duals but i knew it was hard i have seen several though. I sold my y-pipe to muffler setup. so now all i have is what i started with. Long tube flow tech headers. So is it possible to run duals down the stock location with long tube headers or is it best for shorties
