My first headers
i bout theese flowtech headers on ebay for 67$ after shipping i think its a great buy considering some of the prices i have seen them go for just check it out.

Not to burst you bubble, but I'd probably take $67 and the headers, but I wouldn't pay for them.
They'll be a little better than your manifolds, assuming they don't leak. Do you have a way to get them installed and hooked up without paying for it?

flotechs are flotechs...cheap, small, require more then its worth to install for not much gain. I would have saved the money and waited to to buy some hedmans or hookers.

Those headers don't cost all that much more new. The high prices you are seeing are for larger tube headers, with Y pipes. The Y pipe is where it gets really expensive, and you need that part.

I agree with steveo and five7kid I'm about to purchase my first headers as well, and with all the experience that most people have had with headers on here and reading alot of threads I've decided that hooker 2055s are really the best choice, what do you guys think.

Those are a good choice as well as hedman 68470 which is what i used and is what i have for sale right now with jet hot coating for $225 shipped.

i got some old old old hedman headers part number 6847. do yours have a port for an O2 Sensor? also do you think shorty slp headers and slp y pipe for 65 bucks is a good deal? i only have to pay the shipping on the y pipe?? I wonder how many of the above posters have ever owned flowtech headers? I have, actually just sold the car they were on too. They were on there for 5 years, and never once leaked. The SAME set of gaskets the whole time. Yes, they dont flow as well as 2055's. BUt, they are a MILE above manifolds. The worst header(and they may be) is still 10 times better than manifolds. The cons: they tend to be a pain to install, because of the way the flanges are. YOu could have got those headers brand new from summit with a y pipe for like 150 bucks.

I owned a set of Flowtechs(2) briefly. They were for my Tahoe but they did not have the right size pipes so I sent them back. Anyways they were not that bad looking but they did have some issues.
If I had kept them I was going to get out my grinder and do some cleanup before I installed them. They needed some cleanup at the header flange area and where the 4 pipes merged. Otherwise it looked like they would have done the job.
I had put a HT383E in my Tahoe and wanted the 1 5/8" headers. I kept getting the 1 1/2" headers even though they were marked 1 5/8" on the box and with the correct part number.

I have flowtech headers and y-pipe, and their quality allowed for me to become an expert at changing gaskets. As stated they have some negative qualities, but for a first set you'll feel pretty good about them. And then sometime down the road, you'll learn what quality is.

Some negative thoughts came to mind as I considered responding, but what I ended up posting was an honest reply.
Are you going to be able to install them yourself, or do you need help from a shop? Perhaps you install them, then have a shop hook them up to the rest of the exhaust.
It was an honest question.

I got some cheapy summit racing headers, me and my dad installed them (it was a total ****). then ran the car to a shop, they told me I couldnt get my car hooked up to my exhaust, i had to get a Y pipe, because the bend has to come down to where it wont hit the road or a dip, and has to go around the oil pan, and so on. the really hard part was trying to weld a true duel into a single duel, (my car was origanally true duel, now its a single duel

But I hear the same about flowtech's, but my friend has them on his project camaro, they sound pretty nice, he said he likes them, and has a good gain from them.

In my case
Cheapy summit headers=Flowtech. I ordered the summits and thats what they sent. Like i said, my gaskets have never leaked. The flanges were really warped out of the box. Putting them on I actually had to put all of the bolts in a few turns and then go around and tighten each one a little until they were snug. If you started at one end and went the other way by the time you got to the other end the holes wouldnt line up. They were that bad. I thought for sure I was in for trouble with them. I used some of the Really THICK gaskets that compress well. Not a single leak in 5 years.

Yeah, I heard the cheap summit racing headers were pretty much just like flowtechs, I didnt had any problem bolting them in, other then all the TBI computer crap.. (sorry, but I hate all the sensors). I probly should retighten them, its been a few weeks since I messed with mine since I got them in. Im not having any troubles with mine, I got a pretty good air flow, and I notice a little go power to the car
. Im just not satisfied with the exhaust note, like how the car was before we messed with it. (I had alot of exhaust leaks, but the car sounded nice).

well i like them thats all that counts and yes im going to install them myself, if i wanted a shop two i would have bought new headers! i was so jazzed up about some headers hell i still think its a good buy
oh and ah there going on a 305 boys so ya know im not lookin for way more power and im not lookin two spend 500 bucks on some hookers eaither, Just respect my first headers when i get that possi rear end and the 350 then i will worry about hookers or headmans until then there good enough.

sounds good, and good to be proud of them 
mine are on my stock 305 TBI. just to forwarn you, you do may need the Y pipe (its a real b*tch with out it.) and headers arent easy to put in, and dont break the header bolts, if so, then you gotta take off the heads and drill them out. even more a fustration. But I wish you with luck man.

yes thx but ah i wont need the y pipe i have duels on both sides pipes bent to perfection the olny thing i need is those headers two be comin in oh and yea im wd40ing the hell out of my manifold bolts so they wont break pretty sure it will go as planned

i bought, and installed a set of flowtech long tubes, they dont leak.....but they didnt fit worth a dam............it took a hydrualic pull and a chain to make clear the stub frame................I will say this, they dont leak yet, and i aint tightened em up, would any of you say mine were worse than manifolds? they are 1 5/8 with a 3 inch collector

hmmm, I dont know much about headers, and probly shouldnt listen to me anyway, but have you notice a little more gain from them? (like better air flow, car moves a little faster, etc.) I would think they would provide something atleast. lol.

But, that really isn't the issue. You didn't say anything about the rest of your system - too many people come on here thinking they can take their cheap Flowtechs and simply bolt them on and get a 100 HP improvement, and the only part of that that's true is the "cheap Flowtechs" part. You apparently have the rest of the exhaust planned out and can handle that yourself, so that's all cool.
And it's not that they won't be an improvement over the stock cast iron logs - they will be. And, as you point out, it's a 305, and their small primary size is fine for a stock 305. If you're willing to spend the bucks for them now and do something else when you do a 350 later, that again is your choice - it wasn't mine.
You have heard the issues people have had with those headers, so forewarned is forearmed.
