Re: Test Pipe

You have to make one yourself because they're totally illegal on a street car. And Florida is getting emissions tests in the near future so you should keep your cat on there.

i will. it will be a few weeks before i get the catback. but i will be putting the y-pipe and test pipe on before that.

imo if u are looking for a test pipe with an air tube this is prolly ur best bet. if i didn't need the air tube i would have gotten a 21" x 3" slip fit pipe at pepboys or someplace like that.it would be alot cheaper.

just so u know i do have an 84 t/a,but i'm getting the exhaust for 86 and up. so this will be ur application.

when i get everything on i will post a sound clip of the full exhaust.

I have the MAC Y with that cat delete pipe set-up on my GTA and everything went together like butter. It fit(s) like a glove.

Re: Test Pipe

I do have the factory manifolds. For mine there were no gaskets/donuts needed but I believe your set up is a bit different then mine (yours being a carb car). On the pass manifold I believe you have some sort of flapper where I have a spacer, and they go inbetween the the y-pipe and the manifold. Im not familiar with your flapper set-up so I dont know if it needs any gasket. EDIT- yes its all ball/socket connections on my car

I have a 4th gen Magnaflow cat back on it but the only sound clip I have the car still has the factory Y and cat on it. No clips of the current set up, sorry. Click on the sig to see my f-quick page which has the old clip on it (which sucks)....

So did the y-pipe and test pipe make a difference in power? I was thinking of this as an alternative to headers.

Re: Test Pipe

Nothing drastic, but it did make difference. I should be heading to the strip on the 4th, so maybe I can come up with something more definitive then the butt dyno lol

u can cap it. but if ur emissions is still hooked up just get a hi-temp hose and clamp it on.

my air tube goin to the cat is crimped. so i bought an air tube repair kit from autozone.
