Finally went to Longtubes
So after looking and considering, I went to Hedman 1 5/8 Longtubes. I am hoping this is will help me out by .2-.3 with a tune. I think the new stall should give me about .4-.5 with the LCARBS with Torque arm. Weather I will get the 373's in there or not is still up in the air. I'm hoping I wont run out of $ or time.

Re: Finally went to Longtubes
Well, if you had a stick i would have said the hookers comps, not the super comps. The headmans are ok. I got my super comps used.

Going off topic. My buddy has Hooker Super Comp LT's for sale, never installed. He built a 500horse motor for his IROC but sold the car before finishing the motor.

Re: Finally went to Longtubes
no unfortunitly
i wish i had befor times. what i can say, is from a drivability standpoint, i used to have to really focus to get the car moving (manual) even after driving it for a whole month every single day. after the switch, its no sweat, at ALL, i almost dont need the gas to go. also, i can break the tires loose much easyer than before on the same spot of road i leave rubber on every day comming out of my house, and the car can go slower in first before i have to start feathering the clutch without it bucking, and i can accelerate at a lower rpm, about 500rpm lower without having to down shift, as in i used to have to shift from 5th to 4th if i wanted to go from 40 to 55, but now i can just stay in 5th no problem. once im over 100, the cars feels like its pulling as hard or harder, but thats all butt dyno so take it for what its worth. it idles better for sure tho

Re: Finally went to Longtubes
I really am glad i went to longtubes....I thought it wouldve just helped out with the low end. On the interstate it pulled harder than ever before. Ground clearance sucks though
aBout 3". I scraped twice coming home. I'm going for a tune on Wednesday to Classic GT Motorsports

Re: Finally went to Longtubes
I forgot to add that the car does break traction ALOT easier than before. I thought since the primary tubes were the same size, i wouldn't have gained so much more torque.
heheh but on a fun note...the wife wanted ice cream after we got home. And around the corner is a 24 hour baskin robbins/dunkin donuts and thats where alot of the kids hang out with EVO's and crap like that.
Come to find out, that night was Mustang and LS1 night. The wife told me once she saw the other cars "Don't race tonight" Spoil my fun!
We went inside and came out and ate our ice cream a few parking spots away from them. I finished my ice cream and she was still eating hers. She wanted to leave and I started the Bird up. EVERYBODY litterally stopped talking and just stared at the car. I didnt notice but my wife told me. As i was leaving the parking lot she said "They're still staring" Well the immaturity came out in me and I said without skipping a beat "Well lets not disappoint our fans."
I gave the car a lil less than 1/4 throttle and i was sideways! I managed to make it look like I knew I was going to do that and the kids were WOOT'ing me (is that a word???) and saying "Hell yeah"
I do remember last time i took the firebird up there last year, some kid pointed to my car and I had my window down and another kid said "Don't worry ab the trans am, its old"
