Gasket for flanged cat...can't seem to find the proper one

Hey guys,

The search seems to be down at the moment. I'm looking for the exhaust gasket that goes down on the cat where it bolts to the Y-pipe. I've got an 84 T/A with the single exhaust. My current connection is the 4-bolt flange. None of the part stores seem to be carrying what I need unless I"m looking for the wrong part. Does anyone know which gasket I need?

Didn't know there was a gasket between the cat and the intermediate pipe. I thought it was designed with the ball and flange for this same purpose.

Ah wait! You have an 84. I think those didn't have the ball and flange and/or slip fits correct?

The y-pipe, cat' and intermediate all bolt on. I looked up the part no.s on Maremont's website for ya and it says that there is no gasket required. I remember doing this to another car I had before and I ended up just making my own gaskets out of a role of DIY gasket paper from Advance Auto.

IIRC, a gasket came with the four-bolt cat I once purchased.

There was one on there when I pulled the Y-pipe off...only problem is it came apart and practically disintigrated as I pulled the pipes apart. Looks like I'll have to cut my own I guess. No biggie, was just hoping someone knew a part number for the actual correct gasket.

Maybe! Mine is different since it has the ball and flange joint.

The four-bolt is generally found on the L69.

I once order the vette cat, but it was shorter than the HO cat I eventually located and ordered. Based on that evidence, I don't believe they're interchangeable.

I'm not looking for the Cat itself, mine's fine, I'm looking for the gasket that goes on it.

I can't be sure of the year I ordered, though it was a four-bolt, but as I mentioned above it was a bit shorter, IIRC. Its oval mouth was smaller as well.

He is correct, they were designed to be without a gasket. Even the 'vette used the same type.
