Problems installing Dyno Don Headers
Just began my installation. I chose the left side first. They hit the K-member and won't bolt up. I don't have to notch the K member do I?
Answer to common question-car has never been hit-period.
Engine mounts are original and appear to be in good shape.
I may change them with stock ones just to be sure.
Anyone else ever have this problem?

never heard of this problem your motor mounts must be absolutely destroyed for this to be happening. Every other post ive read about these headers is that they go in with little struggle.

Ditto's on the motor mounts. They may be sagging after all the years of use.

If you dont want to get a set of solid mounts use a set of poly mounts. They will hold up better.

The mounts were a huge job to get out. They are, as the gentleman said "destroyed". Amazing they did anything at all. They are crushed nearly 1/2" +/- a bit more, broke loose from attaching to the metal frame, rubber is laying over on it's side. Visually in the car I just could not tell, amazing. Transmission mount is collapsed a 1/4" as well.

Glad that you found the problem(s). Maybe the car will run a little smoother with all the new mounts.

Re: Problems installing Dyno Don Headers
As an update to this. New rubber mounts helped but the header still rubbed heavily. I tired poly after that and the #3 tube just touched. After a few PMs with the header builder it is apparent to me that amongst other things Chev couldn't build with much quality during this era the manufacturing tolerances for K members and their attachment points fluctuate enough to cause this. It's rare, he has seen it twice other than mine. Figures this kind of c..p seems to have a way to find me. I just tried to install my J&M camber plates while waiting for parts to finish the exhaust install and new out of the box the bearings are seized.
