PURPLE HORNIES
I will be running a 350 small block that i got with edelbrock on for the specs. it will be about 470 hp at motor. I have headers on it and wandering if purple hornie header mufflers were a good way to go or if there was something else that would sound better and perform better

Re: PURPLE HORNIES
I can only assume you have full length headers based on the question.
In any case, aside from there not being any room for header mufflers on these cars, those things will souund like a log truck coming down the road. You're only option with a full length header is custom. Whether that be dual or y-pipe is you're call. With 470ish hp you are within the limits of a 2.5inch dual setup(520ish is limit). Or a 2.5inch y into a 3.5 I-pipe then the muffler of you're choice. If you go y-pipe, I would avoid a cross-flow at all costs(they just sound like crap). I would rather have a single tail pipe(that's hidden mind you) that sounds good than two that don't. But that's just my opinion.

Re: PURPLE HORNIES
ok well im kinda uneducated on what i got, the car im getting from a cousin, the motor i have, the car now has 3" straight dual exhaust on it, i will be putting the headers on it, i know the headers are Hooker super comp, i was wanting to keep the dual exhaust and use the flowmaster super 44 mufflers but im not sure if everything will fit do to ground clearance so im guessing ill have to have custom exhaust done. and im not sure if i should take the exhaust to 2.5", and would i loose some performance by doing so.

Nothing compares to rumble of purple hornies and the ease of installation. 6 bolts and two hangers and nothing else. I hear an x pipe with turndown mufflers makes more horsepower though for the mid to upper.

What about longtubes + s pipes (to clear the subframe/trans crossmember) + Purple Hornies?
