Took my muffler off today, to let the ponys roar!
Well, I finally got the muffler off the car to hear what the motor really sounds like without it! I love the sound it makes. I even took it around town for a bit with it off, and it was like I had bought a whole different car. I really need to get money saved for an exhaust.
Anyway, while I was under there, I noticed I am gonna need a new hanger on the driver side tailpipe. Its the factory stock hanger, and I am the first person to touch the bolts since they were tightened at the factory in Van Nuys. They still had the undercoat on them untill the socket scraped it off...
Here is a pic of what I am talking about...

Does anybody know where I could get a hold of a brand new hanger??
Also, if you are wondering what it sounds like with the factory cat and i-pipe, here you go:

Just cut the old hanger off the exhaust and weld it onto the new one. Or buy a new one, lol.
And if you still have a cat on.... try taking that off, then it will really roar.

what an awful thing to do to your otherwise nice car. Idiots with no teeth and rusted out pickup trucks praise you, people with actual fast cars laugh at you.
If you want your car to sound good, add power to it, don't subtract exhaust.

Oh, and that was my nice way of telling you not to insult a member and bypassing the swearing filter. If you want your visit here to be an extended one you will understand, and quietly move along to the next thread.

You are insulting a guy with a beautiful 11 second car. 99.999999% of you kids hack your mufflers off, hack your cats off, put stupid stickers on your cars and some of us are just a little embarrassed by it. TGO used to be the place were the tech was. The elite! It seems now it's home to kids born 10 years after their cars were built who think they know "everything"...

I will be running with hedman longtubes and an x-pipe straight back with no muffler next year. But I will also have an hsr intake as well. My catalitic converter was already removed. (I bought it like that)

To each his own... but PLEASE explain to me how running open headers makes the "best" of your car? My car has run 11.501 @ 119.5mph through a single 3" catback on motor so don't tell me it adds power at your level... If it does I oughta be in the 9's with open headers.

I'm going to lock this post. Its getting out of hand with the comments.
Also, I believe every one of the United States has a law that says every car must run some kind of muffler that keeps the exhaust sound less than 95 decibels. If you're running without a muffler on your way to the exhaust shop to get it fixed, well that cant be helped. But dont plan on making that permanent.
