Y Pipe Question
Im getting a set of hooker headers for my car and im wondering what I should do for a y-pipe. I was thinking about getting one made from an exhaust shop but I dont know what size I should make it ( 3 inch from each header into a 3 inch y-pipe or 2.5 inch from each header to 3 inch y pipe)? What have you guys that have custom made y pipes done? The car has a 305 TPI and im not sure if 3 inch from each header is a little too much.

Re: Y Pipe Question
You don't mention which Hookers you're getting. The Hooker 2055's, a board favorite, come with one of the best Y pipes available. You might consider them.

Re: Y Pipe Question
Im getting the Hooker 2460's. I heard that the y pipe for the 2460's is nice but the end of them is only 2.5 inches. Will hooker's y pipe for the 2460's still bolt up to the stock exhaust with it ending in 2.5 inches or will it take modifications?

Re: Y Pipe Question
I meant will the hooker y pipe bolt up to the exhaust from the cat back? Also what size should the pipes be from each header?
Re: Y Pipe Question
If your application is on the mild side, the hooker y-pipe should be fine provided that the header collector and y-pipe are at least 2 1/2 inches.
My earliest combination used a Hedman short header with a Hedman y-pipe which bolted directly to an OEM location Flowmaster cat back exhaust.
Except for constant collector flange leaking, it still managed to help in getting a 13.4 second time slip.

Re: Y Pipe Question
So I should just have a pipe made then that is 2.5 from each header into a 3 inch y-pipe?
