Headers
Im trying ot install a pair of hooker headers 2210's. My problem is the oil dipstick is on the drivers side and seems like it has to be removed to install the header. Is there an easy way to take it out? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Headers
I have always removed mine with vise-grips around where it goes into the block, and twist and pull. But mine has been in and out several times.

Re: Headers
Yea I got a cheap one and it went in hard with a wrench like you would install a pick up on an oil pump. So now trying to remove it with a vice grip and hitting it up from underneath it broke off right where it goes in the block. So now I need to somehow figure out how to get that out. My problem is with the headers in will I be able to install a oil dipstick in after? I doubt I will be able to get a wrench down in there to hit it in? Is there ones that maybe dont go in so tough? Certain brand maybe? How do you guys install your dipsticks? Thanks for the help.

Re: Headers
when i did 2210'a i just undid the bolt that holds it to the block, and pulled hard, it goes in jsut fine w /the headers, you may have to bend it a bit, but nothing significant. as for having the one broken off in there now, shoot you may have to drop the oil pan to get it out if its really bad

Re: Headers
I have an older block so its located on the driver side instead of the passenger side like my car should be I think and there is no bolt it just is a tight press fit. So thats why it was stuck in there so good and I now need to get it out lol. I have an easy out and im going to heat it up and see what happens. Any other ideas are very welcome
Thanks

Re: Headers
A reverse thread easy out is what I would try first.A new sharp one should grip it.

Re: Headers
Alright got the piece out of the block and was wondering what brand you guys are running for oil dipsticks for the older style sbc with oil dipstick on driver side and no bolt to hold it in? Also I ordered an accel shorty spark plug for the number 7 cylinder and am kinda pissed that its like a whole 1/8 inch smaller if that lol Is this what you guys are running for the hooker 2210's the accel spark plug or is there shorter out there? Thanks for the help guys.
