Tri Y Headers???
Can some of you knowledgable folks explaint to me what Tri Y headers are? Why are they called that? Are they any good? What is the difference between them and regular shorties? Thanks in advance

Re: Tri Y Headers???
Standard headers run four primary pipes into a collector, or four pipes into one. Tri Y headers run two primary pipes into a secondary pipe then on to the collector, or four into two into one. When seen from the side you can pick out three "y" shapes- Tri Y headers. The main difference between Tri Y and standard headers is Tri Y's are more tunable to an engines output IF a real pro is building them. Look for Doug Thorley or Burnes Pypes on the internet.

Re: Tri Y Headers???
they start off as 4 runners then they go to two, and then to one, it allows for more low end power, as opposed to headers that go to just one collector that offer more power at the high end
Re: Tri Y Headers???
Shorties for example too add HP but take away TQ, longtubes add may add TQ but at the cost of HP. Tri-Y's are the perfect compramise.
I have SLP Tri-Y's and I think they are a GREAT header. The welds make them a piece of art as far as I'm concerned.
