i want an answer once and for all...

once and for all, what are the best long tube headers for a third gen CAMARO.

my camaro has no A.I.R, therefore it has no need for air tubes.
i have no AC, no egr no anything.
my accessories are an alternator and power steering.
my motor is a 350 moderately built to "400 hp at the crank" as claimed by the previous owner.
i doubt very seriously that it makes 400 crank hp, but i think that 330-360 is reasonable.
i have a 700-R4

my priorities are:
1) ease of fit
2) ease of spark plug change
3) price
4) performance
5) longevity

now I've done search after search and every single thread seemed to end in your wrong im right cause you are a dumb redne**...

now if someone has a part number of a long tube header that meets my criteria, then thank you very much.
if not, then i guess leave this open until someone does.

There's only a handful of long-tubes available, so it's not that difficult of a choice. Hedman 68460s probably meet more of your requirements than the others.

But the real problem is trying to get them up there. If ease of fitment is a huge concern, try a set of dyno dons shorty headers. Best ones out there. I have them on my car, and they were so much more easier to put in then the long tubes

Re: i want an answer once and for all...

Problem, everybody has different "priorities", that's why there is no single BEST long tube header.

Deal with it, find the one that best fits your priorities, and that is what you can consider the best.

Re: i want an answer once and for all...

if your not trying to get max effort from the engine then get some shorties!!

if you do want max performance get some hooker 2210's best seat of the pants bolt on (an easy 20-30hp)
your clearance problems will be on the pass side, theres a brake line that likes to get in the way! and also you might have to grind a little on the control arm bracket and a weld on the k-member! not to hard and well worth it in my opinion!

cool, so one vote for hooker 2210
like i said, i have never bought headers before, and my budget wont let me buy a few different ones and see what i like best.
unfortunately, no manufacturer will say exactly what you have to modify to get them to fit.

and yes, i am adamant about long tube headers.
i already have shorties on the car and dont like them.
plus, they have air tubes and are rusted and look like poo.

any other opinions?

as for what i plan to do after the headers, i am thinking about running each one through a glasspack and dumping before the rear wheels.
yes, its a bit "r"-word but hey, thats what camaros are good at. lol
(please dont ban me, i was only kidding )

Re: i want an answer once and for all...

ok, so how about these
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

hooker 2138
long tube headers, 3 bolt flange, 1-1/2 primaries, 2.5" collector.
seems about right to me.
any opinions?

those have small 1 1/2 primaries and only 2.5in collectors, these are what you want. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Probably cheaper to get the without the coating but they will turn to rust in short order. It would be best to fit them first and then get them coated incase you need to dent a tube or two to gettem to fit how you want.

Re: i want an answer once and for all...

well i figured that the 2.5" collector would be fine considering that i will be running true duals.
as for the 1.5" primaries, i thought that smaller longer primaries helped generate torque by increasing scavenging.
yeah, it would be a restriction above 5000 rpms, but realistically, this is a street car and torque is king...
should i go with 1 5/8 primaries?
i dont want to go too big and take a hit on torque

Re: i want an answer once and for all...

get the 2210's the ones you have listed are fender well exit you dont want those! if you want to run 2.5" with 3" collectors just get the matching reducers

you can get them cheaper painted
