Headers

whats up guys!! I was wondering about headers and which ones you guys use? I am having trouble finding non emission long tube headers for a manual transmission. I have found headers at summit racing for 89 bucks but they are only for automatic trannys??

Re: Headers

You're having trouble finding non-emissions LT headers? AFAIK, there are no emissions legal LTs in the first place. Hooker 2210s and Hedman 68460s are both good choices.

Re: Headers

So there are no long tube headers for mine??? Other than the hookers and the hedmans? What about the ones i posted from summit? They look like long tubes and they say they will fit a manual transmission thirdgen f-body? I am officially confused lol Also i do not want anything that has to do with emmissions !!! I am making my car a drag car and i wanted to go with long tube headers and true dual exhaust.

Re: Headers

Those Dynomax 85098s are pretty anemically sized. Hedman 68460s won't clear the slave cylinder, so you're stuck with the Hooker 2210s, unless Dyno Don has a long-tube.

No, they won't clear, but I believe mw66nova wrapped the slave cylinder and header around that area and it was fine.

I did the same thing, welded AIR Tubes onto the Dougs' headers, but it makes them a nightmare to put into the car. They also don't fit well with Vortec-style cylinder head plug locations, the headers have to be removed to get the plugs out!! (This would probably be the same with the Hooker LTs, neither were designed for Vortec or Fast-burn head plug locations!) If you have the Vortec style heads, go with Dyno Dons' headers, they're shorties, but they work well and allow plug access for the Vortecs.

I intend to adapt a Bassani True-dual X pipe system onto the long tubes, but the trans Cross member is just not designed for duals, so ground clearance will be pretty minimal.

Re: Headers

There are other LT headers out there.

Stahl Headers and Lemons Headers have LT headers for the 82-92 Camaro, but expect to pay $$$$.

Also, Davis Step Headers have LT headers available for 3rd Gens. Again $$$. These are competition headers.

Re: Headers

They're also assemble-to-fit and require modifications to the car.

Re: Headers

And you'll still need a y-pipe, so the price may not be right for you after that.

Have you not done any kind of search? Search true duals before asking that question again.

Re: Headers

I was just trying to find out how you could miss a pretty well talked about topic. And to answer your question, you could do that with shorties, as my friend has it on his with glasspacks, but it scrapes anything and everything.

Re: Headers

I ran hedman shorties into true duals and glasspacks, dumped before the rear axle. drove the car everyday on the street hardly ever scraped. I'd do it again.
