For a stock engine would these be any good. I plan on doing bolt-ons and cams,heads, etc. eventually ... just wanted to know if these would limit in the future and at what level they would start limiting me. Should I just get a 3" collector? I'm just worried about having to get a custom y-pipe.

The only problem with long tubes is ground clearance. They're hard to make fit around the transmission. The "off-road y-pipe" also makes them illegal to use on a street car in the United States. Catalytic converters are required on our cars.
Search this Exhaust board for "Dyno Don headers" . Don makes 1 3/4" shorty headers with a y-pipe. They look great and fit great.

the hawks stainless longtubes tuck up really high you would have plently of ground clearence. i started to put these headers on my car got the drivers side in but the passenger side didnt fit, maybe cause i have a vert. so i returned them. they are definately worth the extra money.
