You're right here in California. Send a PM to Dyno Don. He has his headers in stock for sale right now.

You can search this Exhaust forum for "Dyno Don headers" for the pics.

Also, only shorties are smog legal.

I PM'd Dyno Don about his headers but he never got back to me. He must not be too motivated to sell them.

Tony, single or dual cat?

Single cat, I believe only Edelbrock makes emissions-legal. Dual cat, Edelbrock and Hedman - I'd recommend the Hedmans unless you go with Dyno Don.

Re: Headers For A 91 Z28.

yeah acording to my smog buddy that i have he told me you could have long tube headers alongest you have the cats and the egr's and the oxygen hooked up on the headers that i would be good but do you think he might be wrong though?

thanks.

Re: Headers For A 91 Z28.

for my set up for the exhaust i have magnaflow cat all my pipeing on the car 2 1/2 and straight to the back and once it goes over the axle i have another y pipe then i have to 1 chambler flow master with turndowns.

and acording to my frine he tells my have a bunch of backpressure and thats good for top end and also if i would go with a true dual set up like i was going to i would have bottom end but since these cars have a lot of bottom end so i would just leave it the way it is

but if you guys have any suggestions please feel free to respond.

thanks.

Too much back pressure is not good for top end. It prevents efficient cylinder filling. No back pressure hurts low end because it allows for the air/fuel mixture to escape out the exhaust valve prior to the exhaust valve closing. Thus, the purpose of a good exhaust is to have efficient exhaust scavenging without compromising cylinder filling at low engine speeds.

Read the sticky in the top section of this forum about backpressure. 99% myth, and 100% undesirable.

EGR isn't hooked to the headers, but A.I.R. is. There are no C.A.R.B. certified long tubes available (stated the other way already by Kevin). Being in CA, C.A.R.B. certified should be important to you. You will need to mount the O2 sensor.

The problem with long tubes and dual exhaust is the clearance. Our cars were not made for dual exhaust, so there is precious little room under there. Yes you probably could find a smog tech that would pass you with long tube headers if you have everything hooked up, but again, its a space issue.
Don's 1 3/4" shorty headers and y-pipe, along with a good 3" or 3 1/2" single exhaust will flow great for most horsepower levels, and will bolt right in with no custom fabricating required like you would for dual exhaust. I have Don's headers, dual cats, 3.5" single exhaust and a Magnaflow muffler on my car.

Re: Headers For A 91 Z28.

cause i when and got 2.5 tubbing for my exhaust it felt like the perfect diamater for my 5.0 i wanted to go with 3 tubing but im not even pushing that much horsepower on my engine caus emy goal for my z is to try to get some top end cause our cars have a lot of bottom end i was thinking about throwing on a cam and later on getting my self a vortech supercharger so yeah let me know if you got some good info.

thanks.
