Found some interesting things out today about my car..
So I am having some headers installed and we go to throw the car on the lift and I found that the car has stock headers however the guy removed the Cat Converter and there was no muffler.. the exhaust tips had built in resonators.. now here is my question.. the guy is putting the headers on and all but will I have any problems with having no cat convertor and no muffler? i mean i know the car wont pass inspection which is not a big deal but just wondering if it will harm the engine any.. i mean it sounds mean as hell now that i had them put regular tips on so no more resonators.... it was loud before but now it sounds like a true muscle car should sound..

As long as the headers have the O2 sensor (assuming you're still running computer control), no problem.

Well I am not sure.. the guy said he was probably just going to eliminate the whole air assembly thing.. he was not exactly clear but said that i didnt need it since i didnt have the cat..

A.I.R. has nothing to do with the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor has nothing to do with the cat. If you still have computer controls, you need the O2 sensor.

No such thing as stock headers. All our cars came with manifolds.
Your biggest problem will be not passing inspection, as you said, and possibly being hassled by the police for being too loud.

Well the emmissions shouldnt be a problem. Got a couple of friends in that area.. As far as the police hassling that shouldnt be a problem either since I am the police lol...

LOL... Keep in mind that the vehicle is not a daily driver.. It is a car that will be built up and go to shows and to the track for amatuer things...I mean yea i will take it out once in a while but this is not meant to drive every day to and from work and all that.. I am trying to restore it and be able to have something nice. But hey what can I say, membership has its privileges.

To me, "restore" means "return to dealer showroom condition". As Kevin noted, the factory didn't deliver cars to the dealer with headers. I mostly ignored that comment in my responses, but he is 100% correct.
There are legal headers available that do not at all detract from performance or appearance. Some may argue that A.I.R. is ugly, I would respond, "Dress it up, then." The cat is under the car - unless your show venue has the car sitting on mirrors, nobody is going to see it. Again, dress it up if you like (chrome plated or colored ceramic coated cat shield - something I don't recall seeing or hearing about - your chance to be "different").
We do appreciate your service in public protection. You should know in that position that there are legal and illegal modifications. Please don't fall into the trap of deciding which laws you are going to obey and enforce. If you don't like the laws, work on getting them changed in the proper fashion.

You're the shining example why cops have lost the public's respect. In your eyes it's OK to break the law if you're a cop. What a friggin hypocrite. If you were in my neck of the woods and tried to badge me, I wouldn't extend any professional courtesy to you. Judging by the fact that you're proud of having friends in low places and your lack of ethics, statistics show that you also take $$$$$.
As for, "membership has its privileges", hopefully IA will catch on to you and revoke yours!
