Re: Hawk's (SSWORKS) or Hooker 1 3/4 headers.

I have a set of Doug's long tubes (I think they are an exact copy of the Hookers) that will be going on my car. For the y pipe I am just gonna have a local shop fab it up using a Flowmaster merge collector.

You should look into both of those as well. I got the headers (coated) and the merge for about $150 less than just the Hooker headers by themselves. Their quality looks MUCH better than the Hedmans that I got several years ago.

Yes I called Doug's and at first got some receptionist that couldn't look up the part number...but then I called back and talked to the Tech...I was looking for some more pics from them. But it seems the headers were as much as hookers.

Here is the link.

The coated Dougs are $200 less than the Hookers for the exact same part. Only 2 things that I don't like are the 3 bolt flanges (mine will be getting cut off for v band flanges) and the fact that there are no o2 sensor bungs prewelded. Two easily fixed problems though IMO.

Thanks for sharing...just curious the description mentions that it comes with reducers that include oxygen sensor locations...can't you just use those?

I really like the idea of using V band clamps. I have them on my turbos going to my down pipes.

for the hookers you can get mufflex's y pipe. it works with stock trans crossmember but NOT with Spohns aftermarket crossmember if you ever upgrade to one

Go to jet hot coatings and purchase the headers coated with jet hot coating for 650 or so shipped to your door. Just mention your on thirdgen.org and you get a discount. thats the cheapest place i've seen them. Summit wanted over 700 for hookers coated version which usually isnt as nice as Jethots from what i hear and seen on others.

I looked through everything they sent me and didn't see anything for o2 sensors. It's not a big deal though. Ill just buy a couple bungs locally and have them added to the y pipe when it's fabbed up. That might work out better for me so that they are exactly where I want them for ease of changing.

The v band idea actually came from a turbo kit I had for my old car. The headers had them welded on just like most tubular headers do on turbo kits. I figured if they would work in that scenario, then they will work great for a y pipe.

Does the mufflex Y pipe fit the 1 3/4" hooker headers?

Do the 2210's come with provisions for an o2 sensor(s)?

I was unaware of the 2210s, they appear to be a nice low priced LT setup. It is obvious that the 02 bungs would have to be welded on each collector...or on the section of the Y pipe. Are there any known fitment issues with these headers? Will they work with the stock L98 heads as well as the AFR 195s. I don't want any throw away parts everything needs to be compatible for future upgrades and mods.

The logical starting place for me is headers and intake...let the L98 breath better in and out.

Happy Turkey Day!

Re: Hawk's (SSWORKS) or Hooker 1 3/4 headers.

the hooker 2210's are 1 3/4" tube headers for thirdgens. They tend to fit pretty good. It fits my car well.

They work well with the AFR 195 head ports. My old hooker 2055 1 5/8" shorties didnt match well at all. They will greatly overlap the stock head ports tho which is good.

They give excellent plug clearance with AFR 195 L98 angle plug heads.

They do not have a bung on the collector. Atleast mine didnt from jet hot. I just put one on the exhaust pipe that bolts to the header collector. No big deal, just make sure you get a heated one for sure

As far as other fitment issues... there have been some issues, some ppl have had problems with them hitting the k member so you may have to grind alittle around the k member to allow abit more clearance. I didnt have to.

If you have a factory oil cooler, you will have to lose that with these headers

There is a thread in this exhaust board about the hookers. May be a sticky. if not, search for hooker 2210 headers

FWIW, the 2210's were what you linked in your original post. And the same ones I linked in my post comparing the prices. If you are interested in them, just buy the Doug's headers which are 100% exactly the same for $200 less.

It appears from the catalog that the reducers come with O2 bungs but yours did not right???? Also since they are the same as the 2210s it looks the oil cooler will have to get relocated as well...that is a bummer.

Thanks I didn't see a part number on Hawks site....and most of the other threads talk about the other Hooker part numbers...these were the ones I was looking for.

As usual good info...I'm not overly excited about having to relocate the oil cooler...less worried about grinding here and there but if that's what it takes that's what it takes I guess...both the Doug's and Hookers appear to be great headers if people don't mind doing a few extra mods to make them work....well worth it for the performance gained with LTs though.

Just curious why are you going to sell yours? I have to decide whether I want to go with Dyno Dons, Doug's or Hookers...I didn't know there was a Y pipe that would fit up to either of the LTs. but if the Mufflex does that will save on some fabrication time.

Re: Hawk's (SSWORKS) or Hooker 1 3/4 headers.

Go with the dyno don's 1 3/4 and his y pipe which i believe is a true 2.5" into single 3 or have a setup made and that will give you perfect clearance everywhere.

its more than enough for what you have in mind i think

I'm getting rid of mine because i'm not gonna be naturally aspirated anymore
