Well, I'm doing a search and trying to come up the best ways, I did thought up an idea, but I dont know how well it will turn out to be.
I don't really plan on being true dual, because the fact of the exhaust pipes that connect to the headers would be a pain, and I would raither use a Y pipe to connect off the headers and than use a Y connector to make it off to dual exhaust from there, over the rear axle and at the end, have two mufflers and hook on the exhaust tips off the mufflers.
Any suggestions?
I'm looking for anyone who has an idea that would work.
I'm not very consern about money being an issue.
But I do however just looking and asking for questions, so when I get to that point, I can start at it.
Thanks,
Tim

It really depends on how much power your making. If you have a mild 350 a good 3 inch single exhaust and a ultra flo muffler would be enough
I beleive my engine is pushing 360 hp. (not at the wheels.) thats far as the engine builder I bought it from told me off of his dyno engine with the same exact parts.
I did look into a 3 in single exhaust, but Idk if I really want that. kinda like the idea having dual exhaust. or atleast try make it mostly dual exhaust and not a single and at the back of the car as dual.

If you do true duals you will have clearance problems and will be tough to do. You can do a single and buy a muffler with 2 tailpipes giving the illusion of a dual exhaust car!

i cant remember the member's name, but by far the best idea i have seen for dual exhaust is to take the Tranny mount rails, and cut them off, then reweld them so they point STRAIGHT BACK. Gives you tons of room to run the exhaust straight back. He did this, with great pic.
So the current frame rail looks kinda like this, if you imagine the top of the page to be front of car.

and you want to make them like this

**** that ****,go to a good muffler shop, they can fabricate a kick *** one. as far a 3" goes that will be tough and quite honestly i dont think your engine needs such a whopper. youll kill low end. i had a nice custom 2 1/2 tru dual done.i went with 2 1/2 becuase the crossover pipe needed to be that size otherwise he couldnt fit it in the stock location .doing this kept ground clearnace to stock clearence.i had to junk the cat and in its place is a x pipe. following that out you route the second pipe in the same manner as the stock pipe goes ,down the driveshaft up over the rear end then it splits and you hook up to dual mullfers out baCK. GROUND CLERENCE REMAINS THE SAME AND YOU GET TRUE DUALS AND AN X PIPE TO BOOT.I GOT MINE DONE FOR LESS THAN THAT SILLY 4" MUFFLEX SET UP. I HAVE A FEW PICS FROM THE REAR IF YOUD LIKE

send me email addys..ill send what pics i have..i dont have that many great ones of the exhaust ..never thought id need em
True...
I like having low end power, pretty fun (but of course Im 17.)
I would like to see some pictures, that would be awesome.
I dont have a muffler shop around here, we do have a mechanic shop that does the bending for exhaust, but when we were redoing my exhaust when I put shortie headers on, they had troubles making some bends with out damaging the pipe.
I was looking at american thunder 3" exhaust, but I really want that muffler, Im kinda looking something more deeper and meaner sound.
the pipes would work great what they have, but I would like the back to split off to two as dual exhaust, and put two mufflers at the end and put on the exhaust tips right off the mufflers.

3" single to a 80 series flowmaster muffler. You are not making enough power to need more than a single 3: or a dual 2.5.
I knew that.
But later in the future, Im puttin on new cylinder heads, new cam, new intake, new carb, new rocker arms. new dist. for more power.
me and my friend went over what parts would work greatly for more power. (sadly, Im not satisified what I got already.)
I have all the part numbers and the cost written down, and we're not sure where I would be rated for hp or tq, but we do know it would be in the range of 550 to 600 hp.
When I was putting on headers in my car, I later find out it was a pain in the *** the make my true dual exhaust work with the headers, and we still made it work out, I ended up spending more money I expected.
I do know what to expect now since i've done it, but I want a good exhaust setup.
the parts I want to put in my engine probably wont happen for a while. but I do plan on redoing it all before I go off to a school (not a college, but something.) after high school.
All Im doing is asking and figure out what I need before I jump into a project.

not to discourage you but if its a small block you wont be getting nowhere near 550-600 hp unless tis some radical 600 +lift cam,12.5-1 comp,etc.. and if it is dont bother driving it on the street cause it wont run worth a crap and dont even consider a single 3" exhaust if you are making that hp....typical street engines these days ina decent street setup run about 1.1 -1.2 hp per cubic inch..do the math.if you dont believe look at crate engines.
:-\ first off, I'd like to hear from others if that is true. if so, then yeah I'll beleive it, but Im still getting the parts me and my friend looked up. I know I wont get it at the wheel power. but atleast more than what I have now.

i went with hooker 2055's with a y pipe that was a 3 inch, going into a 3 inch cat and into a 3 inch pipe back to a single muffler that opened up into dual pipes.
i wanted to use duals with mufflers on each side by each pipe but the muffler man said there was not much room for a muffler on each side.
if you look on this board you will find some very nice dual setups but the problem is that there is not much room and they show.
i finally gave up and went with the ypipe.
zimgta has it right. flowmaster or if you really want to hit it - go with borla.

Yeah, I seen one guy (idk remember his user name.) had a twin turbo set up and had three inch true dual exhaust, and I was very surpise, but I dont think I could have the patience to make it true dual. I might just go the same route you did, seems like logical way to go.

I no longer own my TT IROC-Z, only my '87 Z28 convertible. It has been in storage for five years. A couple of weeks ago, I brought it home and I'm starting to gradually "come back" to this website. (For you newbies, I'm one of the original members here, dating back to 1996.)
I did have a true dual 2.5" exhaust with a pair of Stainless Works chambered mufflers. Don't let anyone fool you that ground clearance becomes an issue. I ran my dual exhaust along the stock routing and was able to get both 2.5" pipes over the axle. I never had rubbing issues either.

I have a 3" true dual, no ground clearence issues... just floorpans that are raised and notched for clearence.
