LT's with ground clearance

does anyone have any recommendations for long tubes with good ground clearance? I found this thread: Stainless Works 1 3/4" Long tube Header install with t-56 (amazing ground Clearance!) ,but the problem is that i have a budget.

Hedman 68460 is about as budget friendly as you can get.

yeah... I don't need to be THAT cheap. Have you had personal experience with those? I'm really just looking for longtube's with the best ground clearance.

Re: LT's with ground clearance

I'm interested in this question as well, and my budget for headers is about 200 even if anyone has input I think we'd both greatly appreciate it.

If you still have the 305 stay away from the 1-3/4 headers they will kill any performance coming out of the 305. I have headman LT 68468 on my car and I cant complain at all. There worth the money I spent on them.

I plan to get headers with 1 5/8 primaries. Could you post a pic of your ground clearance?

Re: LT's with ground clearance

there are 2 rules about speed and cars.
the first is "speed costs, how fast can you afford to go?"
and the second rule is "there is no substitute for cubic inches!"
you will not go fast unless you can at least comply with rule 1.

I think that first saying is just stupid. It's all about HOW you spend your money. I don't necessarily need the "stainless works 1 3/4" long tube headers", I think I can get by with something that costs a third of that for my daily driver, with ground clearance being the main concern. In the latest issue of 'Hotrod', there was an article about a 1.3 million dollar mustang, but I know that wasn't the fastest mustang ever. Simply because I don't have the money for those headers does not mean I can't go as fast as someone who does.

I like the second rule, 'no replacement for displacement'.

Please don't try and tell me that anything depends on the size of my wallet, it's all about taking advantage of your available resources.

Is your car stock height?

I have installed 2 sets (Hedman) on customer cars. They have excellent GC in a stock height car. I have only run the Hooker 2210 LT's. They are a little more $$ than Hedman. They are nice, but hang low and I would not recommend them on a daily driver. Aside from these 2, Stainless Works is one of a few options. Ed Quay makes some very nice LT's that have great GC, but I don't know personally if them make them any smaller than 1.75" primary tube size.

Re: LT's with ground clearance

Alright, I guess Hedmans sound like my best option. Thanks for the input!

I'll do a search for Ed Quay, but iirc those will be expensive.

84 z28, that's an awesome looking car. Doesn't look like a daily driver, am I right?

I plan on using weight jacks, and sitting at stock height.

Not a daliy driver. Its drinks gas like its going out of style (8mpg) and its not the quitest car in my town cops dont like me much. I drive it about 2-3 times a week in the summer and thats it. Just make sure you figure out what you doing with the rest of the exhaust. Are you doing a single or true dual ?
