Preferable Exhaust for a 1988 Trans Am GTA.

Alright so I want a mild sounding car. I do not want one of those hardcore throaty tones that you can't even hear yourself think.
I am currently thinking about Magnaflow's 16829 system w/ a hi-flo cat. Along with Edelbrock's Ceramic Coated Headers 68722.
It would be great if I could get some feedback from the Senior TPI members or whoever knows their stuff.
Thanks a bunch !

Magnaflow if you want Stainless and Hooker if you want mild steel(aluminized). Both are excellent designs as in sound, fit and finish, performance. Forget the Edelbrock's. If you want short tubes, go with Hooker, SLP's(if you can find them) or Dyno Don's. Nice car and good luck!

Thanks, would you happen to have any part numbers for the Hookers?

Hooker #16823. Be sure to check with board sponsers first to see if any of them offer it.

The following is a direct-fit system which should meet your requirements: Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

Polite at idle and cruise, nasty at WOT. You can carry on a conversion or listen to music.

Ya? How do those tips look ? To me I don't think they'd look all too well under my bumper. .
I was thinking of running magnaflow's catback with hooker 2460-1 headers and a magnaflow hiflo cat.
Would that be nice?

You want the Hooker 2055's... they come with Y pipe that exits @ 3 inches... I do recommend the ceramic coating...get a high flow cat from who ever, I got a Flowmaster system, they have a 1 in / 1 out muffler (which flows better than the 1 in / 2 out plus my exhaust is kinda hidden (I also painted it black to hide it) so it doesn't stick out the rear (which is even lower on GTA's than it is on Formulas... Not sure if other companies make that same design... but it's as described... not too loud unless wide open...

im running a flowmaster catback with a edelbrock SDT muffler installed in place of the flowmaster. Its got a very mellow idle but when you get into the throttle it wakes up progressively.

the tail pipes on the flowmaster are the hidden slash tip design which i think looks best on the firebird/trans am cars.

my pos 305......but this setup is going on my BUILT 92 trans am soon as it warms up a tad
