Another exhaust system I built on a former car of mine.......(Emissions legal)!
I no longer have the red one, but I built this system awhile back when I had the car. Cant remember if I posted pics of it or not, so here ya go!
Hooker 2210 longtubes, 2 1/2" Y-pipe with dual high-flow cats into 3" intermediate, mandrel over the axle into dynomax 14" single in / single out, with 4" dump 45 degree out the driver side...

how was the ground cleance with that system. i just bought a mufflex y pipe but i would rather run my exhaust system like that. i think the only thing i would do different is notch the frame on both sides to get it to tuck up. my car is lowered so i dont even no if mufflex is going to work. by the way i havd dougs lt's/

Ground clearance wasn't too bad. I think the lowest part was the driver-side cat which was pretty close to level with the driver side header collector (the usual lowest point). You will have to modify the mufflex to get it to work. On my black car, I custom fabbed a double-hump x-member and ran a dual 3 in. Y-pipe in the tranny tunnel. Both cars have six-speeds.

Y-pipe's for both cars were custom made. Black car's Y was done by a local Race car and custom shop that I work for, Red car was made by a local exhaust shop. Red car has a Spohn T-56 x-member, black car has a custom fabricated double-hump T-56 x-member.

...No. I mean the actual Y section. Not the whole Ypipe.

In that shot, where both pipes come together is a prefabricated Y section.
Nevermind. I found it. Called a scavanger. Like so:

Both cars have Flowmaster pre-fabbed Y collectors. This one is a dual 2 1/2" in / 3" out. The black car has a Flowmaster dual 3" in / 4" out reduced to 3 1/2".

Sailtexas186548 is the new owner of the red one...... I was looking through my pics on my computer the other day and thought I should post them up for people who may want longtubes and dual cats.

yep, i bought the car from 1bad91z, the cats made it a bit low, but overall the groundclearance wasn't too bad, well, at least not to bad compared to the true duals im running now

1Bad,
You said it is emission legal, did you add air tubes to the headers and did you run the air tubes to the cats? Or is it not a requirement in Texas once a car is a certain age? I am moving home to Yexas soon and looking at buying Don's headers but would love to have long tubes if possible. I will be living in the DFW area. Thanks for the help?

I dont think you really 'need' the air pipe running to the cats, it just pumps air into them to burn better.
Your obviously a marine stationed at camp lejeune i take it? One of my good friends was there, now hes in florida doin some demo training

Lthrneck - those cats are the newer style and do not require air pumped into them to burn off gas vapors. It would be able to pass the sniffer (if PROM is tuned correctly), but it will not pass a visual inspection due to no smog pump/EGR/etc... However, most little hole in the wall shops arround town just care if it will pass safety (horn, tires, blinkers, lights) and the sniff test of course.
I don't remember the cost off hand, but I only lost maybe 10 HP if that. Keep in mind the old system was (no cats and a SLP loudmouth!). This system was ALOT less noisy and was legal to the cops (had cats back on the car)....
Hope that helps!
