No. The new cat will have provision.

Oh, I see. Often you'll see where the pipe is cut near the replacement cat and a piece of rubber is installed between.

Re: air tube

I looked/felt pretty well earlier today, i was changing my torque arm bushing and i figured i might as well give it a look down there, i didn't feel any rubber connector or anything, it all looked welded, could it have been farther up the line?

Are you sure it's not welded on? to the cat, all the way up the line?

Re: air tube

it usually is welded. he meant that you will cut it and replace w/ a peice of hose unless you will be welding a peice of tube as well.
I'm not sure how necessary it is, but there is a special heat resistant silicon lined hose for this. i just got some at NAPA, kinda pricey at $9 a foot, so make the cut close to the cat!

ahh alright, so a small rubber hose will do fine then to serve as a connector between the two tubes?

Lol, 9 bucks a foot for "heat resistant silicon lined hose", maybe i'll look into that if my car isn't passing inspection, but doesn't look like there'd be a point to buying something so extravagant for such a simple part.

Another quick question, you would need the rubber hose to be a specific size obviously for it to provide a snug, leak free seal, so do you think it would be difficult to get such a specific size for the AIR tube?

Re: air tube

my 2 cents-if you cant weld or use JB Weld, take the car and cat to the muffler shop and pay em $20 to weld that one seam and be done in 30 mins.

Snug-fitting hose and a couple of hose clamps.
