suggestion on muffler!
ok hi well i need your suggestion on a muffler for my 87 iroc-z camaro 5.0tpi/auto. i cant have it be over or to much over 100bucks but i dont want it to restrict airflow anymore then stock, less restrition would be nice
i want it to sound like stock but if possible a little more deeper rumble and not being to much louder then stock. i want it to make the car sound more like a very nice running 60's muscle car. thx everyone. plz if you can give me the link to the muffler.

Re: suggestion on muffler!
I can't help you there as I don't know what was on my IROC when I bought it and I don't even have a muffler on it now. just a single 3" pipe all the way back dumping on the driver's side and tucked away where you can't see it.

i would go for a magnaflow muffler, and change your exaust into a single out, not dual, but with a slightly larger diameter , its cheap, should sould good, and it looks good too
the flow master realy isnt intended for the exaust design of a camaro due to the chamberd design and it being so far back in the car, , the magnaflow is a strait threw design and flos better, ijust orderd all my pre bent pipes and muffler , and a 3ing diameter 18 inch long tip for it to, it will dump out at the rear passenger side below the bumper, should be nice, and flow great, good luck, mufler at summit racing.ocm is 70 dollars

Yep. Magnaflow is the way to go! I have a flowmaster, and its loud and really raspy. I don't care too much for it. Then again, it isn't very high on my priority list.

I know one pipe looks kinda stupid but you can work it to where you can't see it at all. If you are good at working pipe or know someone who is it can be done. I don't have the equipment to do anything exhaust wise so there's a guy that does all my exhaust work. He did my single 3" pipe and worked it to where you couldn't see it at all unless you get down under it. I love it. course I don't have a muffler but it still sounds really nice and you can't see it. So you can go the one pipe route and hide it and give it the look of a NASCAR stock car. I think it looks really good myself

Re: suggestion on muffler!
Go with a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. It has a decent price, a little bit louder than stock, and a lot better flowing.

I have a Flowmaster on one and a Hooker Aerochamber on another. The Flowmaster I detest, the Hooker is ok and much better. As above the Flowmaster is raspy and in general I do not like it.
I know the sound you are looking for. I don't know if it is doable or not. Something is different. If I could get my Camaros to sound like my 67 Chevelle did with a 327/350 I would be so happy. But it is not going to happen. I have another one with a cammed lt1 installed and when I get an exhaust installed I will let you know the sound.
If it sounds like the Chevelle did, you will think me a carpenter from the 2x4 I will be packing.
