just a thought

anyone ever thought of taking a reg catback and mod it something like this:

put in a borla xr1 like this

then in the back use this to seperate into 2:

then go off that for your reg pipes that would come out like normal:

i also thought about using the xr1 inline before a magnaflow or flowmaster catback setup wonder what that would sound like?.....

Re: just a thought

I had something very similar to that for the past few years until about a month ago. I had a glass pack in the I-pipe behind the cat and then a Y to split it after it went over the axle.

well here are more pics its under the borlamouth part:
http://www.ls1sounds.com/pics_tips.htm

then heres what i was thinking as far as the combo xr-1 and flowmaster i know this has several mods but i think the sound still would be smooth like that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1RweQpybpM

im really thinking of doing this to mine for the heck of it or just a straight xr-1

FYRCHKN: what did yours sound like any pics ?

Re: just a thought

Unfortunately I don't have any pics. I think I might have the old system still leaned up behind my shed, I'll check in the morning.

As for the sound, it sounded great. Deep, throaty, and very aggressive but then I decided to quiet the car down. Alot of people on here that have never run one on their car will try to say that a glasspack will make the car sound like a Hillbilly's truck but that was not the case by any means. There was no crackle or popping at any time.

I heard the exhaust all the time..idle, crusing, WOT, etc...I switched to a Hooker Aerochamber 3" cat-back when I swapped in the 350. Now I can actually carry on a conversation in the car while cruising down the highway.

Re: just a thought

I had something like that in my old '91 RS, It sounded great.

I took out the cat and used a large ID glasspack, nothing but 2.25" pipe after that. The 305 sounded pretty good at WOT but was still quiet at idle.
