Center 4th Gen Tips Anyone?
Hey Everyone,
Has anyone put the the 4th gen tips in the center? Also modiffied the bumper so they would be tucked in like the SLP setup they sell for the 4th gen?
I know this mod would be only be able to do on the 91-92 Camaros cause of the extra lip they have on our bumpers. Im thinking about doing this mod to my camaro let me know what you guys think if theres a downfall to do this and any ideas on how to achieve this would be great,
* Pic Belongs To ****** Heres a quick photoshop of what im talking about.

Thanks. Tony.

Re: Center 4th Gen Tips Anyone?
i thought of this idea 1st!
seems like it'd be a good challenge for me but i'm broke right now. i did a similar idea on my truck and was going to run them under the license plate together, but it would of been too low for me and too much attention to the "center" of the truck.
one of the problems i can see with the camaro will be finding a way to center mount them sturdily. the frame is the best place to hang exhaust, and you're a good foot or so inside the "rails". the trunk pan is going to restrict that too.
also i wouldn't want to cut my lip and ruin it, i'm scared.. not something i can just weld and band-aid back together. and if you cut your lip the 2 edges will be kinda loose i guess you could say because you're cutting off their backbone. that could cause the paint or urethane to crack.
and you'll probably want true duals which might require an expensive new panhard bar. and what kind of muffler would you use or would you like 2 mufflers, more money.
you could do it, it'd take some goofy bends, some careful cuts, money (may not concern you as much?) but it's a bad *** idea. i wrote a lot more but it was middle of the night garbled thoughts even i wouldn't be able to understand tomorrow so i deleted alot. you can tell i've brainstormed this now cant you

Yeah I have thought about the exhaust going to stain or so the bumper I mean my car is black as it is but when I spoke with my buddy at the muffler shop he said its gonna be tight but it is possible though theres gonna be some carzy bends I'm still thinking if I shoud go ahead with this or just tuck the mufflers up and do a turndown and call it a day.
I'll be going with a dual exhaust 2 cats and X pipe and 2 Dynomax Bullet mufflers from the header back for $350.

Re: Center 4th Gen Tips Anyone?
sometimes thats a good financial choice. i dump mine after the axle for now, with everything hidden pretty good but pointed outside the body. its still loud, leaves me no tips to clean, there's nobody hating or loving my tips so it keeps peoples questions and comments from bugging me, and i tend to change my exhaust style every year, and this keeps me from looking at it and changing it.

Re: Center 4th Gen Tips Anyone?
Somebody here on TGO has already done it, but I forget who & I have no pic of it. But because of the rear impact bar behind the bumper, there is only about 1" hanging down to create a notch in. So mine would be a small notch, like in your pic, or cut a hole & go THROUGH in the impact bar.

Re: Center 4th Gen Tips Anyone?
My ideas were to cut notches for the 4th gen WS6-style exhaust(but I've also thought that too deep of notches might be a bad idea), or a hole THOUGH the center, leaving a strip on top & bottom, connecting the 2 side together.
Since the 2 sides mount to the body where they do, I wouldn't expect much flex, but also wouldn't want it to flex & crack the bumper pain any. So my ideas woulda be with extra caution, just to be on the safe side. Better too much than too little.

Maybe pull the whole thing out & build a tubular one, like Andris did for his twin turbo front bumper?
