First of all, my first questions is identifying my headers, I know they are Edelbrock as the passenger side tag says and thats all it says. Anyone recognize or know what they are? Their also what seem emission legal.

Driver side, Sorry for no good pic since all the things are in the way but I am showing where the Edelbrock logo is:

Passenger side is a bit more clear:

Somewhat better pic of the driver side:

So a few years ago, I took the Cam to get its exhaust done and well today I was under it checking for rust and well I saw how much of a hack job they did or as it looks. First off all the Y pipe right before it merges into one, it seems like its been beaten in. I don't know if that was caused by me at one time or came like that, there seems not to be a clearance issue. Second is right after the cat before going over the diff they seem to have welded a bigger pipe to ensure fit into the muffler itself. As for the muffler I took it off and found no markings or nothing on it. It sounds pretty good though, at idle when warm its quite and its got its good sound when stepping on it. What do you guys think of it? Get it fixed or what? No leaks btw.

Merge of bigger pipe I was talking about:

Heres a few more of the Y pipe beating and mostly clearance and pipe over diff:

Once again, feel free to give any words on it and if I should get it gone or leave it til it breaks

well it doesn't look the best, or may not flow the best. but if your happy with it then i wouldn't bother changing it until it breaks

those headers are most likely the Tubular Exhaust headers that are listed as suitable for our 3rd gens... 50 state legal..

Would these be it?

I kinda want to take them off and clean them and take them for painting.

why waste money on paint when you could ceramic coat?

well depending on how long you've had them and if you go with ceramic coating, I would recommend you buy new ones that are already coated... coating alone will run you anywhere from 250-300 dollars... a ceramic coated set of headers will run you about 500-600 dollars depending with which ones you go with...

Yes, that's them, same as these. If you want coating, get better headers. They only have 2.5" collectors

Would upgrading to something like the popular Hooker 2055 be worth it? I really want to re-do the exhaust and giving some more exhaling power would be nice. So what do you guys think of this setup and what would be missing that I wouldn't want a shop to do, mainly aside from providing tubing to merge the sections? I read the stickies and other threads for a bit more info but still wondering to double check.

Hooker 2055's to Magnaflow Highflow Cat to Hooker Cat back system? I saw the stock gaskets that come with hookers are poop what would be some good replacements and any concerns on the setup?

This car is gonna be my DD for a while so keeping it running good is my only concern at the moment without going wild. Of course this is after its painted and its running fine. I really did not mind my current system but not having a o2 plug and bent y pipe is really bothering me. Also if I decide to hold this off until later this year, where is the o2 plug or where would it be? If I need to make the hole and install the new one I bought recently.

The following is a direct-fit system that you might consider: Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

I used a Fel-Pro Header Gasket (Jeg's p/n 375-1404) with success on the above system.

Thanks James! This setup is right up there on my list after its painted. I loved the exhaust tone hooker had.
