Both will require a Y-pipe to be fabbed up or purchased aftermarket.

I don't like either of those, if you have to go with shorty headers, go 2055's or SLP's set. Expensive yes, but well worth it. Shorty headers already give up a significant HP advantage over long tubes.

Re: Hooker vs Hedman

First off, if your going with price, why buy from hawks, I just quick searched Jegs and it was $10-$25 cheaper which will pretty much be free shipping.

Look on other places as well, always nice finding prices $20-$40 less and save some $.

also my car is quite low and i understand that the long tubes cause issues with that? also they cant run quite the same location as stock?

The Y-pipe for shorties crosses over between the oil pan and the trans inspection cover.

A long tube Y-pipe would be more near the trans crossmember which doesn't have enough room to run the pipes over it, so the pipes must go under. this is where ground clearance is lost.

Which is why we make custom double-hump crossmembers

The 700r4 still doesn't leave alot of room between the trans and the trans tunnel wall. The x-member helps alot.

T56 guys can run them alot tighter too thanks to the narrower case.

ah yes, probably wont work to well for me, im already getting way more power then i used to have with the new engine im building so losing a lil bit of power using shorties over long tube, the roads here are so stupidly horrible as it is.

so betweent these 2 whatd would you guys go for?
also just wondering is there any pros cons between a ball and socket setup vs a straight flange bolt together?

Re: Hooker vs Hedman

so for the hedman headers hawks lists one set of headders and summit another

only difference i can see is that one is a bal and socket and the other is a 3bolt flange type. are you able to use either or with them???

Re: Hooker vs Hedman

get the ball and socket setup.. i came across an issue where i got the three bolt flange and summit didnt sell the matching y-pipe, so i had to weld socket style to my headers
