Long Tube Hedman Headers and a 5 speed

I am looking at buying this set of Long Tube Headers from jegs

Hedman long tube 68460 from jegs

Says its designed to fit with 700/350 turbos

I was wandering if anyone has used these headers with a 5 speed and if its possible to use them????

I dont want shortys and I dont have alot of money

I am building this car on a budget LOL

Re: Long Tube Hedman Headers and a 5 speed

I had those headers and hated them. They fit like crap. I had bad exhaust leaks right at the head because the headers were hitting everything which made them not sit flush up against the head. They also did clear my angle plug heads, except that primary number 1 was sitting on plug number 3. I had to cut part of the primary out and rebuild it to clear the plug. Personally I would run shorties any day over those. Not trying to bring you down or anything, just trying to help you maybe avoid some hassles.

I was thinking the same thing but my father is a machinest/fabricater so Maybe I can make them work. I am not running angle plugs

The reason I want full length is because I am not running a hood on the car and want to have some more shine(As I am powder coating them prolly)

search for mw66nova, a few years ago he modded a few sets for use with the t5. if i'm not mistaken the driver side collector runs straight into the slave cylinder.

I dont know if he could get them to not hit anything. They even hit my tubular crossmember some.

If the nice look is what you really want, Hooker makes a shorty header that is ceramic coated and comes with a ceramic coated Y pipe. Do they make a powder coat that will take the temps of headers?

Re: Long Tube Hedman Headers and a 5 speed

on the stock crossmember some clearancing is required at the control arm mount on the driver side, but really thats not too bad, hell some ls fbody header require clearancing the block. on a side note hedmans have a thinner flange than hookers and in my experience anyway leak more. but if your dad is a machinist/fabricator i suppose you could cut off the hedman flanges at the head and put the hooker flanges on giving you a cheaper header with a thicker flange.
