New Exhaust
I live in California and the little stupid exhaust law got me thinking on what exhaust I should get. I have a friend with a 92 firebird that got a ticket for having the exhaust too loud. I have also heard that changing the catback is illegal. I have the stock exhaust and want to get that muscle sound going. Can anyone tell what I should get?

Re: New Exhaust
To keep it low enough for sound issues, go with a Magnaflow catback. Sound is real clean, and its also made from stainless, which looks great.

Re: New Exhaust
Headers will make the exhaust a little louder. I would also recommend a new cat to make sure it would pass the emissions test.

Re: New Exhaust
the exhuast combo i wanted orginally was,
headers: hooker 2055's (include y-pipe)
cat: hi flo magnaflow cat
catback: magnaflow
for the magnaflow stuff buy it off of bandit exhuast, and i would just buy the headers at summit.
But anyhow this combo should flow VERY well and shouldnt be to loud but noticable and very good sounding, very big block muscle car like. Good luck

Good choice. As for the 2055s, I've heard they are some of the best flowing, besides Dyno Don's. Magnaflow makes real quality products, so you should be on your way. Good luck with the install!

Re: New Exhaust
Make sure your stuff is C.A.R.B. approved. On the cat and headers it must have the C.A.R.B. stamp. I'm not sure about the muffler but it's in Ca. so they may have to have it also. That is really all you have to worry about when changing the exhaust.
