Y-Pipe Removal

I am having a lot of trouble with getting the y pipe out of the cat, can anyone point me in the right direction for a semi-easy(I know it can't be easy), way to get the thing out?
Thanks

If it's stock I believe it's attached (welded) to the cat.

I think stock it is in fact welded together. Had to slip off exhaust on a camaro last weekend and man was it tough to pull off, rassled that thing all over the place.
