Re: flowmaster, magnaflow or thrush?

I have done a lot of searching for the same answer and I think I'm going to go with Magnaflow on my 87. I like the stainless steel and the sound is just what I want. I also found what I think is a good deal on a cat back system, $325.

Don't forget BORLA, I have one in 3" s/s off Edelbrock headers, mine is tunable and sounds nice. They are pricey though. Just a thought.

Here's a sound clip of a 80 series Flowmaster muffler. I beleave its just the Flowmaster muffler on a stock system. Allot of other sound clips for just about any muffler you want to hear.Just type in YouTube/ Camaro /then the muffler you want to hear.=

I have a Flowmaster American Thunder 3in. Cat back with a high flow cat and it sounds just "about" like this but deeper. Mine sounds better when your standing next to. And yes it is that "Flowmaster" sound.

Re: flowmaster, magnaflow or thrush?

Thrush makes a welded muffler that is just like the Flowmaster 40 and is half the price. I personally like the Thrush welded muffler.

Re: flowmaster, magnaflow or thrush?

i have had flowmaster , & magnaflow (both are good) . i now have magnaflow # 16829 . i chose them for the stainless steel . i have no complaints on them . install with attention to detail as i did and you will be happy . sound is not a factor to me , loud sound is not always power . i like power of course , but i'm more of a cruiser than a racer . good luck .

Re: flowmaster, magnaflow or thrush?

magnaflow ftw, or you could also consider an 3in hushpower muffler and get madrel bent pipes somewhere, but the muffler alone is... 200 i belive!

Re: flowmaster, magnaflow or thrush?

I use the thrush welded on allot of builds. They flow really well and they sound nice. The welded mufflers are a bit loud though. IMO they are louder than the flowmaster and magnaflow.

Re: flowmaster, magnaflow or thrush?

Flowmasters do sound good, but they are known for being loud inside the car also. Magnaflow have a good deep sound.
