Gasket recommendations

Scored on a set of used but in good condition hedman headers AND y-pipe on craigslist for $100. What's a good gasket to use for headers? I see copper ones everywhere and I've also heard about the Remflex ones but they're still somewhat mysterious to me.

Re: Gasket recommendations

Not sure, I just used standard felpro gaskets. Are there any advantages to copper or remflex?

Re: Gasket recommendations

always been a fan of copper or aluminum gaskets on headers. they give a better seal and are very useful when you've got a less than perfect flange (little warped or rough). they definitely hold up better than paper gaskets.

+1. Ive always had excellent luck with a pack of fel-pro manifold gaskets. I usually spread a thin layer of the red rtv on the header side before installing them.

The key is to keep checking your bolts to make sure they dont loosen up over time.

That's the biggest thing to do right there!

I also use RTV but the copper one, though lately I been using the RTV copper spray on stuff, works pretty good and much cleaner to apply to boot.
