true duals
Will TSP (texas speed and performance) x pipe true dual setup for the 93 to 02 f bodys (forthgens) work with the 82 to 92 f bodys (thirdgens)
If not whats the difference between our f bodys and the 4thgens f bodys

Re: true duals
This is a great question... I was wondering the same for an 86 Z28 with a TPI

Re: true duals
I'm sure how the exhaust is routed under the car is different. I've never looked under a 4th gen so I wouldn't know for sure, but I know on third gens getting true duals is a lot of work.

Re: true duals
What would you suggest we do then... I have an 86 Z28 so exhaust and cam are costing me lots of hp. Id love to get some of that back with a good (not $400 +) exhaust system.
Re: true duals
So, that means headers and if you search this site, and others, you will see that long tubes can be done but are a bear. I'm sorry to say but you aren't looking at under $400 to do the job.
Shorties are the best alternative for 3rd gens unless you want to do cutting and don't care about ground clearance. Then you would need a Y pipe and a good 2.5" minimum but preferably 3" system and delete the cat if you can where you live.
Again, search this site. Your car is 25 years old so assume (and it is a good assumption) that this topic has been raised countless times and there is a wealth of information on this site.

Re: true duals
ive researched it a little bit, it comes in pieces so you could modify the tubes to fit on to a pair of some longtubes headers. and as for ground clearance it shouldnt be much different from the 4th gens ?
Re: true duals
I can assure you that my 95 Z28 w/LT1 puts out more power than your engine and I run Pacesetter long tubes with an off road Y and a magnaflow catback. Yup, a 3 inch y pipe and cat back and I'm not held back by the system. I might see 5 ft pounds more if I went open headers. Take a look at 2002 LS1 powered 4th gens with no mods other than a similar exhaust to mine and they put down over 300WHP and over 320 foot pounds of torque to the wheels.
If true duals is just something that you must have, do it because you just gotta have them. If it's performance you want, then get a tune for 93 octane, some shorties and you'll get a lot more bang for your buck than trying to fit true duals.
Re: true duals
Try running the duals more down the right side of the car where the single pipe ran. If your running 2.5 in you can run right over the rear end with stock upper pan hard bard bracing, with dual 3s you will need the BMR upper brace. Trying to run down the middle you run into clearance issues if not tucked properly, usually you get about half a pop can of clearance with issues going over speed bumps. Dual 2.5s are good for 500 horse or so from multiple sources on here if ya search it. I knw i have spent many hours finding thinkgs myself. I had the dual 3s on my 95 which i ran over to the passenger side and dumped at the axle with Dyno max bullits which it is pretty loud inside. Bullits give you the best clearance if you can stand the decibles. Your in need of headers mostly to be getting the most out of your engine long tubes work best for getting torque from your engine where ya need it, down low to get out of the hole faster, stock mannies are very constrictive and dont flow so well, unless you have an LS1 which they work up to 500 hp. Just a ramble of ideas.
