Hidden Exhaust tips on Cat-back kits? Which ones?
Does anyone know which cat-back exhaust kits come with the factory style hidden down-turned exhaust tips?
The only one I can find is Hawks.
In the days of all cars including Hyundais and Kias having large chrome dual tips I kinda like my hidden tips.

I would go with whatever exhaust sounds best to you. you can always switch the tips for a factory style turn down cheaply. as far as kits that come with that look, gmmg without the optional tips, and edelbrock if i remember correctly. not sure what else

If you dont mind only having one outlet, flowmasters 3" single sits up behind the GFX and is essentially invisible if you set the rear mount to the right hight. I have it, and love it. No frills, cheap, and it gets the job done.
Edit: I think their american thunder kit is also available with stock style pipes. Muffler that comes with it sucks, tho, so it sort of self defeating when you have to put another in its place.

I think these can also be ordered from flowmaster or summit. I know they sell some of the stuff seperately, if you know the right PNs. Mandrel bent, and not all rusty like the factory ones will be when you go to get them off.

I've thought of doing an oval piped side exit, to get rid of my rear exhaust tips.

I have the Flowmaster Force II on my Camaro, It's a single out 3 inch system with a 30 series muffler and the tailpipe is hidden. It's not to loud and has a great tone. IMO.

Re: Hidden Exhaust tips on Cat-back kits? Which ones?
I noticed those single outs. Its a thought, I like the idea just not 100% sure I want to part with the duals.
I already have the Flowmaster muffler on my car so another option is to just replace the cat to muffler section to gain the mandrels. Kinda wanted shiney new tip section too though.

I bought the Dynomax stock replacement tips for my car. Part #'s are WLK-43243 & 43244. Dynomax also sells the intermediate (44063) and over-the-axle (43248) pipes too if you want to piece together the cat back.

I have LM1
I cut the tips even with the bumper cover under the car and you can barely see them without being eye level. Dont see why that wouldnt work for most catbacks too

I have the Flowmaster 3" 1 out... I used heat primer / paint to paint the out pipe black...
The one in / one out will flow better than 1 in / 2 out (I know there are better flowing than Flowmaster), but if you're hiding it anyway, why keep the fake duals?
Now if I could only make my Jet Hot Ceramic Coated Y pipe a little more stealth

Re: Hidden Exhaust tips on Cat-back kits? Which ones?
Has anyone here installed stock style tail pipes on the 16829 Magnaflow catback? It looks like it has 3" outlets on the muffler which I guess would require reducers to fit stock pipes?

I am using a 3" in 3" out ultraflo. No tailpipe, just a 10" long turndown angled back a little so it doesn't point straight at the ground.

Cut back 3in.Flowmaster tips on the American Thunder Cat. back/80 series muffler. The tips are not invisible but you do need to be on your hands and knees to see them. Its not exactly a sleeper look nor dose it sound like one.

Custom! A good exhaust shop will make a cat back hide-away! Usually for cheaper than the cat-back you find in the aftermarket..

If you don't mind crush bends. Alot of exhaust shops don't mandrel bend. Mandrel bends flow much better.

Re: Hidden Exhaust tips on Cat-back kits? Which ones?
Yes the old-school Edelbrock performer series cat backs have the closest match to the stock tail pipes. They are slash cuts with the ends nipped off, exactly like the originals were. I've had 2 kits, one on my IROC years ago and I currently have one on my TA.
Beautiful car by the way.

I ended up having to get something on short notice and went with the Flowmaster. In all I am actually happy with it. It is much ;ess blingy than I expected and quite low profile. You have to stand back quite a ways to even notice it.
