Re: good v6 exhaust
Well, I'll tell you, this is my suggestion and two cents.
First, replace the manifolds and y pipe. Your Y-pipe is a really restrictive piece of garbage. If you can, buy the pacesetter headers kit with y-pipe and start there. If the headers are above your budget, then keep your manifolds and have a custom y-pipe made, preferably using a flowmaster y-transition pipe.
Next, if you are keeping your engine stock for the most part, use parts made for a factory TPI V8 car. If you are on a budget, just go to the parts store and get the entire cat back exhaust for an IROC or a Trans Am with a vin code 8 engine. I even use used parts for my V6 stuff because I'm on a budget.
If you have some money to spend, I would buy a high flow cat and a cat back system for the same Trans Am. A stock V6 will improve performance using the V8 setup, and all I had to do was have the exhaust shop make a new transition from my Y-pipe to the V8 cat. Everything else I did myself in the driveway.
Good luck!!
