i built/am building a full 3in mandrel system for my lsx swaped 86 ta which consists of a 14in magnaflow muffler with offset/center locations an am running a driverside tail pipe from a american thunder kit. i more or less know how the magnaflow in this setup will sound on this car but also debating on doing the same setup on my 92 z28 i just got also. just curious to who has done setups like this also with the single tail. i dont like tips so i will have the pipe tucked as much as possible so the tail will be out of sight. kinda curious as to what a nice built single setup would sound on a stock tpi motor anyway.

 

Used engine primer / black heat paint for the tail pipe... I didn't wanna see it either...

my setup is kind of like that. But I went for total concealment. I did paint the exhaust black. My pipe goes out behind my back tire on drivers side.

sounds pretty good. ive seen that setup for sale through summit and debated on getting it also.

 

It's the Flowmaster 3" mandrel bent 1 in / 1 out kit... I ordered it from Summit... It was supposed to come with a super 40 muffler, but I guess it was old stock, came with a 30 Series Race Muffler...

Im thinking about changing my muffler. since i upgraded my heads the exhaust is a lil too pappy. I think im going to a flowmaster or something. I have dynomax now. But I dont want the car a ton louder because I have an electric cutout for that.

 

my cat clogged last night which i knew it was comming thing was rattling to i pulled it off punched it out and welded it back up and it sounds awful with the flowmaster lol im deff gona be changing/fixing the exhaust soon. still debating on if i wanna go though the hassle of building a system from scratch for this car like i did for the trans am or if i just wanna break down and get the magnaflow catback.

 

yeah the summit is the same as the flowmaster super 40 and it got old quick....i want something raspier thats why i cut it off and am making my own slp loudmouth....i might just break down and buy the real one lol

 

my dynomax is too raspy for me with the new heads on the car..haha.

here is a pic of how mine is setup on my 86 ive been working on. im using the driverside tail pipe from a flowmaster american thunder system and i cut the end off of it so it would tuck better and ended up moding the rubber hanger a bit to pull it up closer. im having a hard time locating the right bolts to hold it up so i had to steal one from the 92 for a mock up while building it. ill get some more pictures with it on the car tomorrow or tonight when i get to work on it some more.
