Mufflers
Mufflers
I'm wanting to replace my exhaust from the collector (Doug Thorley Tri-ys) to the back. Looking for a performance muffler that is not too loud and I don't want 'Flowmasters'...any opinions on a good muffler to buy? I've heard 'Dynomax Ultraflows' are nice.
Anybody??

Re: Mufflers
I vote Magnaflow (mine is a bullet style just behind my Magnaflow catalytic converter) for the best flow, and I think lots of people will agree.
Borla is nice, but not cheap & only comes in stainless steel, afaik. I was thinking about getting their full catback & saw $700. I went to order it a couple weeks later & kt was $1012! Gives you an idea of their prices.

Dynomax is nice. Sounds good but not very loud, and no annoing droning. You can get their Super Turbo Cat Back setup for about $200

Re: Mufflers
Thanks for responding...I put a TPI motor in my 4wd truck and I'd like to finish it up by giving it a fresh exhaust system but I only need some exhaust pipe and the mufflers. The piping and install will be done locally so I don't need any pre-made kits. Which of the Dynomax is NOT stainless steel or are they all stainless?

Re: Mufflers
I love my Magnaflow. At steady cruise, it is barely there. At part throttle it is there, but not obnoxious at all. At WOT, it does get noticed. Of that there is no doubt!
Wish I could tell you which muffler it is. Mine is a Texas Speed & Performance Rumbler. A bullet-style muffler in the pre-build cat back.

Re: Mufflers
Just checked, the muffler is also 100% Aluminized Steel, Not Stainless.
Here is some info when I took pics of the box.

I like the Hooker Aerochamber - quiet until you get on it, supposedly flows better than the others, inexpensive, and pleasing to the eye (it's flat black, so you never see it under the car).
