3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

Anyone used these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I came across these on eBay and was wondering about quality? No EGR? Collectors crossover to CAT?

Petey,

How are you connecting the collectors up? Looks like these go straight down. You doing dual exhaust? You using a CATALYTIC converter?

Are the ends of the collectors 2.5" OD?

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

they look like a decent set of shorties. the description shows a collector outlet of 2.5 inch, with 1.75" primaries. youll probably have to have a custom ypipe made to fit them though

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

does anybody have any installed pictures of this header? I have a 7qt moroso oil pan so it took a fair deal of angles to get a proper y-pipe made up to go trought the stock routing (and rattles now)if these headers go straight down on the driver side I could make up something that would flow a lot better than what I have right now.

those actually look nice but the price is odd for a good set of stainless headers.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

Petey,

Did you try the factory O2 sensor? I was reviewing the feedback on this eBay seller and noticed a couple of non-positive comments about some headers that the O2 sensor bungs not being the right size. These were not for these headers, but was just wondering if there was any issue there.

I also looked a little closer at the pictures of these. What quality are the mounting backers to the heads? Looks like the head sensors might have an issue as it looks like the backer plates do not have the cut outs for sensors like the water temp?

Hard to tell. The specifications, price and photos all look great.

Just need to hear from someone actually using them.

Did you measure these and verify the primary and collector diameters? They look identical to these, though the collector diameters are different...

Well now I question what these fit? The auction on eBay has these listed for both F & G bodies. I have both of these cars in my garage and done headers on both, not even a close bolt up!

But they do look the same as the ad I first saw.

I have just decided to stay with stock exhaust manifolds, MagnaFlow 16450 3" Y-Pipe, 3" CAT, and 3" Hooker CAT Back system. Only thing I changed were the exhaust tips, bought some nice standard chrome single pipe tips at the swap meet last month. Those dual tips ones they send with the system are goofy looking!

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

We eventually learn, often the hard way, that there are no good cheap headers. Any set of headers that are worth the effort to install will cost atleast $400. The headers I am currently running are still available from Summit For about $500. They are from SLP and made from 406 stainless, 16 gauge tubing with 3/8" flanges. Also important is that they have three seperate flanges on each header with no bar running between. this is why the gaskets that I installed with them 12 years ago are still there today with no leaks. They of course come with the goofy looking AIR tubes welded in. My freinds at the local welding shop took care of that for me.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

I think these are made by Pro Comp Electronics.

http://www.procompelectronics.com/

The format for their part numbers matches that of the ones from the link I posted earlier. However I can't find them on their site. I emailed them to find out if they used to produce these.

I would pick these up... If the primaries are really 1.75"

It's "Guinea Pig", which is a cute little rodent, not a pig at all:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea_pig

The price for stainless steel heads is great. Would be better it we could hear back from someone who has actually used them.

The Part Number is PP-HDS-FP82. I don't think they are ProComp. Instead they are probably some "white label" brand from Taiwan.

The features and price are very good though.

The eBay seller for these avoided my questions and just told me that the were made in China when I asked who the manufacturer was.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

If the fitment is crap then they're not worth the headache.. What if the leak? O2 sensors don't fit? What if it comes into contact with other things? Although 131$ plus shipping is a small price to pay for what could be an insanely great deal.. It's a tough call.. lol

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

Also I did some searching with the part number HDS-FP82 and came up with some results stating that they are 1.5" primaries and 2 3/8" collectors.

That sounds a lot more realisitic, and much less desirable.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

Guess it depends whether your measure inner or outer diameter. I like these, especially for the stainless steel.

Seems they are some Chinese brand sold thru a few different people on eBay.

Just need someone to buy a set and give us the real deal.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

Seems liek there are a couple of different people selling cheap stainless steel headers:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...ht_1565wt_1042

$199, P/N pc5011 for Procomp brand - these look like copies of the Hooker 5022 headers.

and:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...ht_4305wt_1042

$135, P/N PP-HDS-FP82 (HDS-FP82) for a generic brand.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

Those may have different part numbers but I'm 99% sure those are both the exact same. Just look at the flange design and how the #6 primary sweeps up and over the #8. Something I've only seen on Flowtech's, which leads me to believe that they are flowtech copies, which is why I'm hard pressed to believe they actually have 1.75" primaries.

Ok guys i bought a set when thay get here i will evaluate them for ya.
My car is pretty much stock anyways and thay cant flow much worse than
stock manifolds.
I will have to weld the air tubes in for inspection.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

That collector design is pretty terrible as well. The might give you some power over stock, but not enough to make the price and time involved with installing them worth it, imo.

You are going to have to fab or pay someone to fab a y pipe for them as well.

It would probably end up being cheaper to buy some headman shorties and matching y pipe to start.

You are going to have to fab or pay someone to fab a y pipe for them as well.

It would probably end up being cheaper to buy some headman shorties and matching y pipe to start.
I have a Fab shop and the tools to do it and I am in no hurry but your right it would not be worth messing with with out the tools or time.

Slow,

Keep us updated. I am still interested in these even though they do not have the EGR tubes.

I tried to stay stock with the Magnaflow 16450 3" Y-Pipe but the one I got does not fit, so now I am leaning towards these headers. Really did not want to change out the stock manifolds. I am interested in seeing how you fabricate a Y-Pipe to go over to the CAT?

Let me know about what you have to fabricate/cut/change regarding mounting of brackets on the front, probably nor much with the serpentine belt setup/brackets. Pre-Serpentine setup used to be a pain to put headers on as the P/S, A/C, etc always needed some fabrication of spacers or brackets to make them work.

Ya i recieved them yesterday and as of this moment stay away.
I bolted them up and first thing i seen was #5 spark plug is directly behind behind the tube and no way could you get a plug wire on it. I am going to see if shorty plugs will remedy the problem if it does i wiil get my calipers out and do some measuring this weekend for you guys.
The thing that sucks is thay look very good quality but that mean's nothing if thay wont work.

The biggest question is still going to remain unanswered "are they really 1.75" primaries?" because you got the ones listed as 1.5" primaries.

Oh well I guess running on 7 cylinders is the price you pay for 150$ headers

But seriously, couldn't you grind away part of the tube to fit the plug wire?

My headers did the same thing, but fit with header plugs.

Re: 3rd Gen Stainless Headers on eBay

I think all camaro headers need short plugs.

What's the fit and finish like?

My hedman shorties did not reguire short plugs.

From his review sounds like finish is nice and fit is not.

My TES headers on my other camaro have standard plugs the finish is awsome the welds look great its just that one tube.
With the spark plug in and the header on you would not be able to turn it out a 1\2 turn and it would hit.
I picked up some shorty plugs today and i will get pics this weekend,As for fitting in the car i wont know till i put the motor in that could be a couple weeks i will keep you updated.

I guess it looks like these are a BUST!

Like it has been said many times, you get what you pay for! Too bad, they looked good in the auction.
