hedman longtubes
i bought some hedman longtubes (1 5/8 into 3" collector) recently. well like a month ago. has anyone else put these on their t5 camaro's? the info i have so far is that i need to cut the corner of the A-arm on the drivers side and maybe dimple one of the headers for the clutch slave cylinder, does anyone have any more info to add to that? thanks

Theres no real good way to make them work for T5 cars. There's plenty of room for a T56, but not a T5. You will have to cut off the collector and move it over. I've seen it done, but the collector and the slave cylinder need to take up the same space in stock form.

Got mine to work just fine. To get the collector to clear the slave I did some grinding on the bells slave mount and heated the bends of the headers with a torch. After they were good and hot I used a jack handle to bend the collector out of the way. Its tight but it clears.
Re: hedman longtubes
Mine clear with zero issues. I installed them while putting the motor in. Do yourself a favor, put the drivers side in first. Took me less than ten minutes to get both in. Maybe my cars different?

There was another picture where the guy just dimpled the collector... pretty harshly but it would still seal and I dont think it would have affected flow a terrible amount. But I cant find that one.
mw66nova did a really trick setup with them where he cut off the collector, extended it straight back and dimpled it a little, and then put an ew flange on it, and then ran duals ABOVE the crossmember. Pretty trick, but he thought the clearance between the exhaust and all the other parts under there was tight enough that he wouldnt recommend doing it without solid motor mounts.

Re: hedman longtubes
I'll get some this weekend hopefully. Only ones I have are on my phone of the H pipe and M80 mufflers, but there's no reason to cut them up to clear the slave- at least in my case. 68460's is what I used.
IIRC, the header doesn't contact the slave at all- it's the flange that needed the additional clearance. I was able to get about 1/4" via the heating and bending, and IIRC the grinding was to clear the 3" ball collector.
To look at the headers, you'd never know they were 'modified' in any way. To give me some additional clearance, I ground the bracket on the bell down thin where it hit too. Took a couple hours taking my time of trial fitting, bending, and grinding, but it all worked. Passenger side when in with ease.

Re: hedman longtubes
Here you go- sorry for the delay. We're in the middle of packing to move to a new house, so getting time for doing much of anything shy of stuffing boxes, and stopping our 2.5 year old from unstuffing boxes is hard to come by!
Like I said, all I did was take my torch to the bends in the primaries and got all 4 hot, and put in a jack handle or (better yet) 4-5 foot pry bar and hung on it with all 184lbs of me to get an additional 1-1.5" of clearance I needed. You can kind of see where I completely ground off part of the slave mounting bracket- it wasn't necassary in the end, but I just wanted that much more clearance.
Pics were taken while I was reattaching the muffler (again) and tucking the exhaust up higher. Will have to do until I can take it to my inlaw's houst to have my brother in law weld up a similar SS system that will tuck even higher yet. Pardon the leaky T5.
