exhaust requirements

hey im building a 86 t/a, 355 tpi big mouth set up,5 spd, about 400 hp,,,, now do i need to go nuts about somehow building a dual exhaust? i know it can be done, but what i have is a set of the edelbrock shorties with the y,,i already have the intermediate pipe that is 2 3/4 ,,bigger than stock,, i dont need cats where i am,, and i would put a good 3 in muffler(or 2 3/4 if there is such thing) with the 2 tailpipes just as stock,, would that be enough??? or do i absolutely need dual? to get the most out of my engine. if its a must, ill do it,but i would hate to,,,i dont want ugly pipes hanging under the car, i would have to fit 2 .5 side by side and place it in stock location,,ive done it before and its doable,,but what a puzzzle! single is so much easier!

Re: exhaust requirements

Re: exhaust requirements

dual 3" into single 4" to a dynomax ultraflow 6" case round welded to dual 3" out the back...much like a slp loudmouth system.

slp loudmouth wouldnt be a bad idea either. little nasty for most...just right for me. even the loudmouth 2 could probably handle the power

Re: exhaust requirements

A single 3" will flow plenty to support 400hp. Single will be way easier & lighter.
