Thrush welded muffler

Alright i just got done installing a Thrush Welded 17638 on my 88 ta 5.7 and i must say im quite impressed with it. Has a nice rumble at idle and screams in the upper rpms.

uploaded a video of it to youtube for those who are on the fence about thrush mufflers and just want to hear how it sounds.

It won't let me watch the video It says the video is private. I am thinking of putting 2 of those thrush welded mufflers on my 85 Z28 when I pull her out of storage on april 1st. I was going to every advanced today trying to see what it would sound like and I've heard from some people they sound nice and some other guy said they are quiet and some of the reviews say they are quiet and don't rumble but that was on other cars I think it would sound good on a third gen. I saw some video on youtube of some guy with a v6 thirdgen with the thrush turbo muffler and it sounded pretty good.

If you are talking about the Thrush 2 chamber welded that kinda look like a Flowmaster then yes-they sound good. A buddy of mine had one on a 94 Jeep GC 5.2 v8, 2.5" stock pipe no cat and stock tailpipe out the back. That truck sounded AWESOM! you would not think that sound was coming from a Jeep if you had your eyes closed. Also the price is noce on them too, Summit Racing sells them for about $30 bucks.

Yea thats what Im thinking of getting. I got shorty headers and true dual pipes all the way back. So they are a good idea?

They sounds kinda like Flowmaster 40's, but a tad calmer IMO. For the price differance from the Flow 40's I say they are a good idea. Also the Summit Racing street &Strip muffler are nice as well, but are priced about the same as the Thrush mufflers.

Re: Thrush welded muffler

here's a short video of my car with a thrush welded. The car was running really rough that's why it sounds choppy. It's a non computer controlled L69

Re: Thrush welded muffler

Originally I thought it was a Flowmaster on my car till I seen it said Thrush on the muffler(it was already on when I bought the car, probably should update the sig.). unds good here's a short video I did awhile back of my diy aft gauge but you can here the muffler. I've since cut out the cat and the sound is a lot deeper than in the video.

Yea it is a little choppy but my car sounds WAYYY worse. I just bought it last August and the pipe on the passenger side is broke right before the muffler and then the driver side pipe has like 4 holes in it. So it sounds like a beater car mixed with a chopper lol It's getting so bad. Plus both pipes are rusty. I had to fix other **** but atleast its getting fixed. I swear the guy that had it before me didn't really take care of it at all. I hope these mufflers along with new piping will liven the car up and have a richer sound. I'm sick of starting my car up in parking lots and setting off car alarms or waking people up. My neighbors hate me lol Also what do you guys think of the chevy tips?

Re: Thrush welded muffler

I have one of those mufflers on my 2002 Neon daily driver. I like it. Best $35 I spent on that car. Want to put one on my Camaro when the time comes.
