92 RS Straight pipe? Help me out

I do not know why people even bother with mufflers. I love my straight pipe. Its a 3in over axle that exits where the stock muffler should. I dont notice any problems.. Am I missing something here? The only problem i see is the rattle. No mattter how tight i make it it still rattles.

Is it rattling on idle?

If so, start it up, and get a grasp if the rattle is up front or at the back. The pipe is probably shaking and hitting the frame

Only cons I'd see from a straight pipe are legality in certain states.

performance wise, too little backpressure can hurt your power. Especially on a stock 305.

Because it sounds like a pulpwood truck. Raspy, loud, and slow. You try that with a real engine that can flow some serious air and the volume level will be completely intolerable.

Loud and annoying are main reasons. You can only take so much of a constant drone on long drives. Plus, in most cases it sounds like complete ****.

bull, not if it's tuned properly.

It needs an exhaust (as in tubing past the exhaust valve) but not restriction.

Straight pipes sound like crap, on every car.

If you can't afford a muffler, leave it alone.
