Newbie exhaust question

Just for the record, I did a search first.

I may have the opportunity to pick up a clean RS, with one problem...........

a cracked exhaust manifold.

Anyone care to share what is involved with removal and replacement of a stock manifold?

Car has TPI if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

Lotsa' elbow grease, a case of penetrating oil, a propane torch. Oh! Some beer wont hurt, either.

Re: Newbie exhaust question

BEER ALWAYS HELPS!!! use plenty of penetrating oil... ease the hardware..Use a breaker bar and apply even pressure rather than beat a short wrench with a hammer....Don't let them twist and break. Use a torch if needed. And have a good supply of qaulity beer on hand.....

Re: Newbie exhaust question

Use Liquid Wrench Penitrating oil. You can pick it up at just about any hardware store. Make sure the manifolds are cool or the oil is dry before starting the engine as it is flamable. You dont need to spend 50 bucks to get a pro braker bar. Just use any durable piece of piping (No not a broom stick or PVC pipe). I just went to a Lowes and bought a 3/4 X 34" steel pipe. Works just fine.

Re: Newbie exhaust question

I hit the bolts with the torch over and over again and they eventually came off.

Enjoy!
