Look...Picture question :)

What causes this? And what would be the best solution?

Re: Look...Picture question :)

For one the pattern isn't even (dang crossflow mufflers)
Soot from the inside of the pipes washed out by condensation
Or an overly rich condition
And you should angle the driver side tip a little to make an even skidmark

+1 on the soot and condensation, probably being blown out during start up. Could be running too rich and/or too cold, never reaching proper operation temp. Looks like you are revving it pretty high at start up to blow that much soot out, they always told me that's a bad thing to do with a cold engine.

Re: Look...Picture question :)

Guys...you are all right on the money. Cold running. Not rev'ing too high...maybe 1250 rpm's. Strong smell of gas. So I'd say running really rich. I'm just unsure on how to adjust the carb. It's an edelbrock and edelbrock has some good videos on their website...but I'm not sure which video to look at.
