Re: muffler question
Welcome to TGO. First, do you plan on replacing just the muffler or are you looking to upgrade the cat-back or the whole exhaust? As far as just a muffler, I've always used the Flowmaster 80 series but do a youtube search for different brands to see what you might like the best. If you want to upgrade more than just the muffler we can direct you in that way too

Re: muffler question
This is a video of a Flowmaster 80 series that IMO has the typical Flowmaster sound. Some like it some don't.
If you read down below the video it says its a cat back with 2 ½ in tips. That does not tell us the size of the piping but my Flowmaster American Thunder 80 series cat back came with 3” piping including the tips and sounds similar to this one but deeper.

Re: muffler question
thanks for the welcome. i plan on redoing the entire exhaust system from the manifolds back and i want to do true duals but im not sure how i can run them yet if i can run them at all

Re: muffler question
do you have to keep the CAT? I have a 91Z28 and not sure how guys run "true duals" without running into a drag issue. Using Heaman Shorty headers, a Magnaflow exhaust, 2 1/2"pipe all the way. I would like to see underside clearance myself before going with duals all the way back from manifolds. Plus everything as far I can see has to run down the passenger side. (no pockets or tunnels under drivers side.)

Re: muffler question
Do a search or look under the exhaust forum there is probably a sticky or something on true duals...In my opinion you are better off running shorty's into the y pipe that the header manufacturer makes or recommends to use for those specific headers, then into a 3 inch cat back. (we can get into brands if you want to go this route.) You will save yourself a headache and will not sacrifice any noticeable power if you go with this set up opposed to say 2 1/2 inch true duals..and that's not even taking into account clearance issues. Just my two cents though

okay hi to all i have an 89 camaro 305 tbi and i was wondering if i could use the flowmaster 10 series muffller 1 inlet with dual outlets even though its not a crossflow muffler, i intend on hooking the cat pipe to one of the dual outlets and have a pipe running out of the other outlet and another pipe running out of the inlet like the crossflow setups. will this work Please give FEEDBACK!!

Re: muffler question
Dyno Don's headers. He's on this forum just send him a private message. His are the best. He can also help you with a matching y pipe. As far as a cat goes, I'm assuming that emissions are lax in your area and you posted above that you don't need a cat to pass inspection...so if I were you I would do just that.

Re: muffler question
Yeah I've never dealt with him or his products directly but I've heard excellent reviews. You can probably search for other posts about his headers and maybe get a general idea of price

Re: muffler question
I have a 4 inch system with a spintech 4x3x3 muffler and I couldn't be happier. Over 400 at the rear wheels (over 500 trq) and it sounds awesome.

Re: muffler question
OK, I'm going to ask just how does this system work.It looks as if only one pipe is going through the muffler. And IMO I would reconsider that 4 pipe tip style.

Re: muffler question
I think the system allows for you to either flow through the muffler and out the one tail pipe with the block off in place on the other side or through the straight pipe and out of the other tail pipe with the block off out and residual exhaust floating over through the muffler...I don't like the design either, IMO.
