Too loud????

I have a 454 in my 89 and I was considering putting the Dynomax race bullets on it with X-pipes, but some people say that the don't even make a difference in sound. I already have problems with the cops, and the car is only ocaisionally driven around my block. Do they at least make a difference at idle over open headers? will they be too loud with my mild big block?

Re: Too loud????

The x-pipe alone will change the tone some and mellow it out just a tad, the Dynomax race bullets are loud, but I would not call them crazy loud. I knew a guy that had them on a 89 Stang with a built 468 in it, long tubes 3' pipeing and the bullets dumped in front of the rear end. It was loud, but IMO not to loud for the street-also he did not have an H or X pipe

In some ways yes, it's not going to act like another muffler, but H and X pipes do change the sound of the exhasut and tend to mellow them down a tad.

Re: Too loud????

It probably won't make a big enough difference to get the cops off your tail if you're having issues now.

Re: Too loud????

Try looking into header inserts, ive read a couple magazine articles on them that they work well.

I run dougs long tube headers and car chemistry muffler turn outs illegal in 49.5 states but because I run my vet plates I usually get pulled over cause they want to see what’s making all them good sounds The local ricers with them fart cans make the police appreciate A real American V8
