AIR System/Smog Pump quick question.

AIR System/Smog Pump quick question.

This weekend I'm planning on taking out my AC and adding a delete pulley, as well as removing the AIR System and pump. When doing that the pump isn't hard to remove, just a question on the black box that behind the pump, by the AC compressor. Do I remove that whole item too as well as the rubber tubing and just block the ends of the metal tubing that leads into the manifold?

I'm doing this because where I live there are no emissions requirements and my exhaust doesn't have a cat, so I don't want the pump just blowing air out the tube that used to be connected to the cat.

With a serpentine belt system you'll hafta leave it there unless a shorter belt can be used that bypasses the smog pump. But sunning it won't rob you of a single horsepower so running it won't hurt anything. Just disconnect the lines off the back of the pump & let it blow out into the air. Plugging it would probably hurt it as it is trying to suck air in but can't as well as pump air out & can't even if it could pull air in.

i ran mine without the pump when I had my sbc in it and you will need a way shorter belt for sure
